Rebellious boy with tattooed face, couldn't find a job for 6 years

(Dan Tri) - Just because of a moment of youthful rebellion, a Chinese man tattooed his entire face, making his life extremely difficult for the past 6 years.

Xiaolong, 24 years old, living in Liaoning (China) has tattooed his entire face to "satisfy his passion". Since 2018, he started "decorating" his body with tattoos, from his face, head, neck, hands, to even the sclera of his left eye.

He said that he got tattoos to relieve his sadness in a moment of rebellion. These tattoos later made his life difficult.

"In the six years after getting my face tattooed, my family and I encountered countless difficulties," Xiaolong said.

He applied for jobs everywhere but was not accepted anywhere except for a few establishments that accepted short-term, low-wage seasonal workers. He had to endure many discriminatory looks during his livestreams. In addition, changing documents and facial recognition were very troublesome.

Faced with challenges, Xiaolong deleted his social media accounts, decided to remove his tattoos and start his life over.

In October 2024, he contacted a tattoo removal specialist in Changzhou to try and remove a small tattoo on his hand. Two months later, he returned to Changzhou determined to remove all the tattoos on his face.

The process was extremely difficult. Due to the severe pain, Xiaolong had to temporarily stop the tattoo removal process. He suffered a heart attack and was forced to return to Hebei for treatment.

"This was one of the most difficult tattoo removal cases I've ever handled," said the technician, surnamed Yang.

Xiaolong expressed his determination to remove the tattoo, regretting his youthful rashness. He said that when his health is better, he will continue to remove the tattoo.

"What seemed cool in that moment doesn't last long. I just want to live a normal life again," he said.

In China, tattoos are often banned in certain professions, including national athletes and civil servants.

Specifically, the General Administration of Sport of China ordered national football players to remove or cover their tattoos during training and competition.

According to traditional Chinese beliefs, tattoos are considered inappropriate, immoral, or a sign of social outcasts.

Xiaolong's tattoo removal story has attracted the attention of the Chinese online community.

"A word of advice to rebellious teenagers, if you want to look cool, try temporary tattoos. Ruining your appearance permanently is just stupid," one person said.
