Chau Ngoc Quang was injured in the match between Ninh Binh and Hai Phong on the evening of September 28, within the framework of round 5 of LPBank V-League 2025/26. The former midfielder of HAGL Club did not collide with anyone. He had to leave the field due to pain after 15 minutes of play.

According to the hospital examination results, Chau Ngoc Quang has torn the ligament in his right knee. He will undergo surgery on October 2. After the surgery, the midfielder born in 1996 is expected to rest for 6-8 months, or even longer.

Thus, Chau Ngoc Quang may have to sit out the entire 2025/26 season and be absent from the Vietnamese team until the end of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

This is not only bad news for Ninh Binh Club but also for Coach Kim Sang Sik of the Vietnam national team. Under the Korean coach, Ngoc Quang was often called up for each national team training session, and was even given a starting position in some important matches.

Preparing for the two matches against Nepal (first leg on October 9, second leg on October 14), coach Kim Sang Sik is expected to announce the list of players for the Vietnamese team this week.
