Here, the aircraft approached runway 1 and flew close to the runway to check the lighting system, then accelerated to fly high. The flight not only inspected the runway but also performed the task of calibrating a series of navigation and aviation surveillance equipment systems at Long Thanh, including: Two ILS/DME systems, two PAPI systems, ALS beacon system, VOR/DME, primary/secondary radar (PSR/SSR), ADS-B and flight methods using related signals.
In the coming days, calibration flights will continue to be deployed at Long Thanh airport. Calibration flights will take place day and night, in many different conditions to comprehensively evaluate the accuracy and stability of aviation equipment systems, ensuring absolute safety before Long Thanh airport officially comes into operation.
According to the flight plan approved by the Department of Operations ( Ministry of National Defense ), the calibration flight at Long Thanh airport will take place in about 1 month (from September 26 to October 24). The calibration flight will be directly carried out by the Flight Management Engineering Limited Company, with the participation of experts from the Czech Republic Air Navigation Academy.
Before conducting the calibration flight, units under the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation and the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board, Air Division 370 held a coordination conference; agreed on procedures and plans to ensure the calibration flight was safe, accurate and on schedule.
Long Thanh Airport is simultaneously implementing major projects, and is expected to basically complete construction by the end of this year and put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026.
