The National High School Excellence Exam for the 2024-2025 school year will be held on December 25 and 26, 2024, with 6,482 candidates taking part. A total of 3,803 candidates nationwide will win prizes, accounting for 58.68% of the total number of candidates.

Of which, Hanoi has the largest number of contestants and also the most prize-winning contestants, with 200 prize-winning contestants out of a total of 260 contestants.

Ho Chi Minh City has 166 prize winners out of 236 contestants. Hanoi National University has 101 prize winners out of 124 contestants.

Some other provinces and cities that won many prizes include: Hai Phong with 102 contestants; Bac Giang with 99 contestants; Nghe An with 96 contestants...

According to the Ministry of Education and Training , the number of prize-winning candidates is spread evenly across localities. Some mountainous and border localities with difficult socio-economic conditions still have prize-winning candidates with high rankings.

This year's national exam for excellent students has 68 examination councils, with 13 subjects including: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, and Japanese.

This year, for the first time, Japanese was included in the exam.

In this year's literature competition for gifted students, Ho Chi Minh City had a first prize awarded to a student from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted.

March will be the month to select excellent students to participate in regional and international Olympics.

The national high school excellent student selection exam is held annually to encourage creativity, good teaching, and good learning.

The exam contributes to promoting the improvement and enhancement of the quality of teaching and learning, the quality of management and direction of educational management at all levels. The exam also aims to discover students with aptitude in subjects to nurture, create resources, and realize the goal of training talented people for the country.
