Announcing the establishment of Dong Trieu City

On the evening of January 1, 2025, Dong Trieu City held a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of Dong Trieu City and receive the First Class Labor Medal.

Attending the ceremony were Party Central Committee member, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh and representatives of leaders of central and local ministries, departments and branches, and a large number of people of Dong Trieu city.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh presented the President 's Decision to award the First Class Labor Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Trieu City.

At the ceremony, delegates and people reviewed the glorious tradition of the homeland of the Fourth War Zone Dong Trieu. In recent times, Dong Trieu has risen to become a bright spot in the development of Quang Ninh province; leading the province in building a model new countryside. At the same time, it has affirmed its position as a dynamic and sustainable developing locality in the integration period. The economy has continuously maintained stable and sustainable development, with an average growth rate of over 14% in the 2020-2024 period. People's lives have been increasingly improved. The average income per capita in 2024 will reach 8,803 USD, and there will be no poor households in the city according to the province's criteria.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh presented the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of Dong Trieu City, directly under Quang Ninh province, to the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Trieu City.

With the determination and tireless efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Trieu, on December 29, 2023, Dong Trieu was recognized by the Ministry of Construction as meeting the criteria of a type III urban area with a plan to expand the inner-city area by 4 more wards.

On September 28, 2024, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 1199 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units, establishing 4 wards: Binh Duong, Thuy An, Binh Khe, Yen Duc and establishing Dong Trieu City - the 5th city of Quang Ninh province.

Recognizing and praising the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Trieu, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized: The elevation of Dong Trieu to become a city directly under the province not only affirms the Central Government's trust in the position and development potential of the locality, but is also a driving force requiring the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Trieu to continue to promote more strongly the glorious tradition, spirit of solidarity, innovation and development aspirations to consolidate the role as one of the important pillars, taking on the role of connecting the region, contributing to helping Quang Ninh province get closer to the goal of becoming a city directly under the Central Government by 2030.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh noted that in the development process, the city needs to focus on effectively implementing solutions to improve urban quality and sustainable urban development as set out in Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW of the Politburo, in an overall relationship with localities in the region; contributing to the successful construction of a green, smart, sustainable urban model that adapts to climate change.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested the Party Committee, government and people of the city to continue to unite, innovate, strongly arouse the aspiration for development, bring the city far and wide, and become an economic - cultural - historical center not only of Quang Ninh province but also of the whole region...

Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nghiem Xuan Cuong presented the Decision on investment policy, Decision on adjusting investment policy, Decision on land allocation and land lease for investment projects in Dong Trieu city.

As part of a series of activities to celebrate the announcement ceremony of the National Assembly Standing Committee's Resolution on the establishment of Dong Trieu City, on the morning of the same day (January 1), Dong Trieu City held an investment promotion conference in 2025. At the conference, experts and investors suggested many solutions to promote the socio-economic development of the western gateway city of Quang Ninh province. On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Decision on investment policy, Decision on adjusting investment policy, Decision on land allocation and land lease for 4 projects with a total investment of over 2,000 billion VND and held a signing ceremony of investment memorandums of understanding for 5 projects with a total investment of about 7,400 billion VND in Dong Trieu City.
