(Dan Tri) - In the final match of the mixed doubles event of Dan Tri Lead, VAR technology was applied.

The final match of the mixed doubles event of Dan Tri Lead took place on the morning of July 5 at Dai Kim Pickleball Complex between the athlete pair Le Thi Hoang Yen (Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department) and Nguyen Nam against the athlete pair Minh Tiep and Linh. It was extremely exciting.

In the end, the athlete pair Hoang Yen and Nguyen Nam won with a score of 11-6 to become champions.

Notably, in this match, VAR technology was applied. In an attacking situation, athlete Nguyen Nam passed the ball vertically towards the opponent's field. Initially, the referee determined that the ball was in the field. Athlete Minh Tiep complained.

To make the decision, the referee used VAR. This is a new modern technology applied in the "Dan Tri 20 Years - New Bright Days" pickleball tournament. Finally, the referee determined that the ball was in the field.

Sharing about VAR technology, Head of the Referee Board Dinh Cong Minh said: “We have tried to apply VAR technology in a few tournaments. However, for the pickleball tournament “Dan Tri 20 years - New Bright Days”, we have the most thorough preparation ever. We pay attention to every smallest detail.

I highly appreciate the support for referees in the upcoming tournament. First, the uniforms. Second, the training. Third, the technology. Referees will be supported by VAR checks to handle situations most accurately.

Sometimes the situations in pickleball happen very quickly and the referee cannot keep up with the ball situation. VAR technology will help the referee a lot. The players can also monitor the situations.
