70 years after the Dien Bien Phu Victory that "resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world", Dien Bien province has been increasingly developing, with infrastructure being invested in and built step by step in a synchronous, spacious, and modern manner, and people's lives have clearly improved both materially and spiritually. However, Dien Bien is still one of the poor provinces, facing many difficulties due to its low starting point and its distance from the country's economic centers. In which, focus on completing the synchronous and modern urban and socio-economic infrastructure; building new rural areas, culture, education , and civilized and modern healthcare; improving people's lives.
National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024, commemorating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, is an opportunity for Dien Bien to promote its image, potential, and local advantages, and to attract and promote investment with the expectation of comprehensive innovation and breakthroughs in socio-economic development. On this occasion, the Prime Minister called on ministries, branches, and local authorities; associations, businesses, investors; and people across the country to continue to unite and join hands to care, support, and help with practical actions and deeds towards Heroic Dien Bien.
The Government has issued a decision to provide financial support to the province to implement the Project to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (more than 312.6 billion VND) to carry out activities to celebrate and construct and renovate a number of works and projects. A series of projects were announced by the Government for investment decisions before the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory. Typical is the project to Preserve and embellish the Center of Dien Bien Phu Fortress Group combined with renovating the green tree system at relic sites with a total investment (expected) of 252 billion VND, including: Renovating and restoring the De Castries bunker area and military medical tent; the French artillery defense area; the Muong Thanh airport logistics area. The rural electricity supply project under the program "Lighting up Dien Bien" for 4,748 households, in 103 villages and hamlets of 8/10 districts, towns, cities...
In addition, many projects on urban infrastructure, transportation, urban beautification, renovation of historical sites... mobilized from socialized sources and public investment capital have been invested and prepared for investment. In the past year, Dien Bien province has changed significantly, many projects have been invested, completed and put into use, creating new development momentum, such as: 7/5 Road Project - the most beautiful and modern road in Dien Bien; Thanh Binh Bridge Project - meeting the requirements for development and synchronization of traffic infrastructure, and at the same time being a highlight of the city's landscape. In particular, the Dien Bien Airport Construction Investment Project was completed and put back into operation, opening up great opportunities in attracting investment, tourism, expanding links with major economic regions in the country...
The goal of Dien Bien province by 2030 is to become a fairly developed province in the Northern midland and mountainous region and an economic, political, cultural and tourism center at the sub-regional level. 2024 alone is also a breakthrough year in implementing the goals of the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan for the period 2021 - 2025. Dien Bien province strives for an economic growth rate of over 10.5%; state budget revenue in the area of over 1,900 billion VND; the poverty rate is reduced to 22%. In particular, it strives to welcome over 1.3 million tourists, with revenue from tourism activities reaching over 2,200 billion VND. National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 is not only an opportunity for the province to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector but also creates momentum to call for and promote investment with the expectation of comprehensive innovation, creating breakthroughs in socio-economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people.
