The first virtual filtering results are out, the standard score is "not yet determined"

(Dan Tri) - After the first day of virtual filtering, many universities said that the rate of virtual candidates is still high, making the expected benchmark scores inaccurate.

Today (August 17), the admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training and the two virtual filtering groups in the North and South officially entered the first day of data running.

According to initial records, the first virtual filtering process went quite smoothly. By early afternoon, the process was completed and schools began receiving results from the system.

MSc. Cu Xuan Tien, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department, University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University), said that the rate of virtual candidates in the group increased significantly compared to last year.

Mr. Tien explained that this year, the integration of many admission methods into a virtual filtering system has created a "virtual + virtual" phenomenon.

Besides, canceling early admission also makes candidates register more wishes in reserve, contributing to increasing the virtual number.

Revealing the number of applications to the University of Economics and Law, Mr. Tien said that the total number of candidates increased 1.7 times, the total number of applications increased 3 times, and the number of candidates with international English certificates increased 3.7 times compared to 2024.

A representative of a public university in the Central region said that although the number of candidates increased by nearly 3,000, the standard score is showing a downward trend.

“In the first virtual filtering, the school expected the same standard score as last year, but the results returned were down 5%. This forced the admissions department to recalculate,” he shared.

He said the first virtual filtering round did not reflect anything because schools were still probing each other about "tactics".

“It takes several more virtual filtering rounds for the results to converge,” said a university representative.

In general, the leaders of Gia Dinh University said that on the first day of virtual screening, the school only entered the basic standard score equal to the floor score, ranging from 15 to 20.5 points. The school is still monitoring the situation.

Schools said that this year, for the first time, the virtual filtering system was renewed, so there appeared a type of "virtual on virtual": internal virtual, inter-school virtual, national virtual.

These include: Virtuality within the same method in a school (for example, virtual high school graduation exam score consideration method between subject groups); virtuality between methods within the same school; virtuality between schools in a group (Southern or Northern group or group of independent schools); virtuality nationwide (between schools nationwide)...

Because of these complex factors, when asked about the benchmark score, many schools still answer that "it is not yet decided".

In addition to the general virtual filtering process of the Ministry of Education and Training, two virtual filtering groups in the North, chaired by Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and the virtual filtering group in the South, coordinated by Ho Chi Minh City National University, are also running their own systems.

The following days, virtual filtering will be done twice a day nationwide until all virtual filtering is done.

At the decisive stage, training institutions will enter the admission scores (standard scores) and admission results into the system at 5:00 p.m. on August 20. At the same time, the units will review and prepare to announce the first round of admission results.

Thus, from the afternoon of August 20, universities can start announcing the benchmark scores. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the first round of admission results must be announced no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 22.

The general admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training will process and determine the highest wish among the wishes for which the candidate is eligible to be admitted.

Candidates confirm online admission for the first round on the common system of the Ministry of Education and Training before 5:00 p.m. on August 30.
