Missing female student found while working part-time

(NLDO) - On the afternoon of August 17, many posts appeared on social networks looking for a female student who had been missing for more than a week.

The post said that PNN (born 2003) is a student at the Ho Chi Minh City College of Economics , working part-time at a restaurant in Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The last time the family contacted N. was on the evening of August 10.

Speaking to reporters, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City College of Economics said that immediately after receiving information about the missing female student, the school checked the student list and discussed with lecturers of the faculties. Accordingly, N. is a student of the school, studying import-export business, enrolled in 2020.

"N. once confided that his family's difficult circumstances had greatly affected his psychology and studies. Over the past time, the lecturers had repeatedly encouraged him to complete his studies. However, up to now, he still lacks a point in the specialized English subject" - said a school representative.

On the evening of August 18, Ms. NTH (formerly residing in District 12) said she had found her daughter, but still could not see her.

"Because I couldn't contact my child for a long time, I reported it to the police and was surprised to learn that my child was being detained by the police while he was working part-time. Although I don't know the specific situation, at least I feel reassured because I know my child was not kidnapped or lured to Cambodia as rumored," said Ms. H.

Ms. N. said she had two daughters. Her husband passed away when the children were very young. She tried to work and save money to raise her two children. Regarding her children's education, Ms. H. was quite surprised that her children had continued their studies to this point. Ms. H. hopes that the school will support and create conditions for N. to complete her studies.

Be careful when working extra

MSc. Pham Ngoc Hiep, Head of Student Affairs Department, Ho Chi Minh City College of Economics, warned that currently, many students want to work part-time to cover expenses, but there are many potential risks.

Some people take advantage of recruitment to commit fraud, asking for deposits, buying uniforms and then fleeing; in some places, they withhold wages or exploit labor. More dangerously, students can be lured into disguised multi-level activities, gambling, illegal credit, or even lured to travel far away or kidnapped for bad purposes.

The school recommends that students only choose jobs at reputable units, absolutely do not pay in advance, prioritize places with clear contracts and arrange reasonable time so as not to affect their studies.
