Am Trach Pagoda (locals often call Loi Son Pagoda) is an ancient pagoda with a history of hundreds of years. Not only worshiping Buddha, the pagoda also bears the mark of national beliefs when worshiping Hai Ba Trung and the pagoda also has a memorial tablet to worship three brave generals of the Hung King period. On August 19, 1945, the provincial liberation army platoon, self-defense platoons and revolutionary masses gathered at Am Trach pagoda to advance to seize power in Gia Vien district, then advanced to seize power in Ninh Binh provincial capital on the morning of August 20, 1945. Through the flow of history, Am Trach Pagoda is not only a place for religious activities and beliefs of the people but also an important revolutionary historical relic and is recognized by the State as a historical relic of Quynh Luu Revolutionary Base. However, this relic is currently seriously degraded and at great risk of collapse if not repaired and restored promptly. Sharing with Van Hoa, monk Thich Dam Thuan (70 years old), who has been the abbot of Am Trach pagoda for 26 years, could not hide his worries: About 10 years ago, the pagoda began to deteriorate, with many cracks in the walls, broken tiles, and termites everywhere. Over time, the deterioration became more and more rapid and serious. The temple's wall tilted and completely separated from the roof and pillars by a distance of 30cm. When it rained, the artifacts in the temple got wet and moldy. "Due to lack of funds, the temple had to temporarily handle the situation by using corrugated iron to cover the walls and roof to avoid the rain," added monk Thich Dam Thuan. In the temple, there are many large and long cracks, termites are found everywhere from pillars to rafters and beams. The wooden door system has deteriorated so badly that it is almost impossible to use it for entry and exit, so large steel bars must be used to support it, otherwise it is very likely to collapse. On the roof, there are many large broken tiles, so every time it rains, we have to bring buckets and basins to catch the water. Faced with the degradation of Am Trach Pagoda, the pagoda reported to the local authorities, however, up to now, this Quynh Luu Revolutionary Base Historical Site has not been repaired or restored and still has to "live with" the increasingly serious degradation.
