Do Thi Hai Yen is an actress who left many marks in Vietnamese cinema, with roles in “The Quiet American”, “Pao’s Story”, “Choi Voi”, “Canh Dong Bat Tan”… After a period of time, about 10 years to focus on taking care of her family and children, she returned to the big screen to continue to burn with passion for her profession and acting career.
Famous for her relentless spirit of readiness to join in with the tragedies that the characters go through as well as her own deep experience and understanding of each role, Do Thi Hai Yen is a name belonging to the group of real talent that always guarantees the prestige for the quality of each film work that she participates in.
“Ho linh trang trai si - Bi am mau King Dinh” is a film with a legendary theme, set in Ninh Binh . This is a large-scale investment project, carefully scripted and produced by director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh. After “Canh Dong Bat Tan” (2010), this is the third collaboration between Do Thi Hai Yen and director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh.
The role of Queen Duong is an extremely important role with complex psychological developments, requiring both acting skills and temperament of the actress. Queen Duong Van Nga is a key character throughout the story, having influence on both the previous King Dinh and the subsequent political changes.
The appearance of Do Thi Hai Yen is an extremely valuable piece in the cast that the producer and director both believe that the storms of the times and the rapid pace of history in the legend of "Ho linh trang trai si - Bi mu toc vuong Dinh" will be clearly recreated on the big screen through her excellent acting ability and the veteran cast.

Last September, Do Thi Hai Yen had the opportunity to join the film crew of "Ho linh trang si - Bi am mo vac King Dinh" to promote the film at the Busan International Film Festival (Korea).
She and the main actors of the film not only brought the image of the film to Korean audiences but also appeared in costumes designed by designer Mai Lam, inspired by ancient materials of the Dinh - Tien Le dynasties, crafted by Vietnamese ancient costume research groups based on historical artifacts preserved from many official sources. This is also a new step to introduce the cultural characteristics of the Vietnamese people that have not been widely promoted domestically or internationally for many years.
Inspired by the folk legend of the first Emperor of independent Vietnam, "Ho linh trang si" is a tragic epic, telling the breathtaking journey of seven warriors on a mission to protect the last secret of King Dinh Tien Hoang.
The film is not only about eye-catching martial arts scenes, but also a profound story about loyalty, love, sacrifice and above all, the desire to protect the "national territory" - a strong message that every inch of Vietnamese land is exchanged for the blood of generations of ancestors.
The project has announced the participation of People's Artist Tu Long in the role of Thay Mo, a character with extensive knowledge of astronomy, geography, culture, history and especially spirituality, who plays an important role in the journey to protect the secret of King Dinh's tomb. The film also features veteran actor Johnny Tri Nguyen as a martial arts director, and also plays one of the main roles of Huu Tuong Quan, who leads 7 warriors in a special mission.
Born in 1982, Do Thi Hai Yen started her career in cinema at the age of 12 and quickly gained attention both domestically and internationally through her role in the Hollywood movie "The Quiet American".
During the period 2000-2015, the actress only participated in 7 films, but each time she appeared, she left a deep impression, especially in artistic works such as "Pao's Story" (2006), "Adrift" (2009), "Endless Field" (2010) or "Father and Son and..." (2015).
After a decade of absence, Do Thi Hai Yen returns to the screen with two new projects, “Quan Ky Nam”, which just premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and “1982”, scheduled to be released in 2026.
