Báo Nhân dânBáo Nhân dân31/07/2024

The International Junior Mathematics Olympiad (the first letter of the host country X+ IMC) is a very prestigious competition, with a committee of 10 members from the countries that run the 3 international mathematics competitions X+IMC; IMSO and IMAS cooperate with educational institutions in more than 30 countries to organize the X+IMC competition in rotation between countries such as SAIMC 2019 South Africa, IIMC 2021-2022 Indonesia, BIMC 2023 Bulgaria,...

In 2024, the competition was hosted by India, so it was called InIMC (India + IMC). InIMC received the participation of more than 600 excellent candidates from 30 countries.

IMC exam questions are proposed by countries and selected by a panel of experts including experienced international examiners and examiners from the host country. In addition, 10-20% of the problems are set by the exam board, so they are very objective.

At Key Stage 2, Year 6 and below, the test consists of 15 written tasks, lasting 90 minutes. At Key Stage 3, Year 8 and below, the test consists of 12 written tasks and 3 essay tasks, lasting 120 minutes. The team test is a competition between small teams of four students each. They will work together to solve 10 problems in 70 minutes.

Last year, Vietnam had 14 out of 17 students winning prizes, including 2 gold medals, 7 silver, 5 bronze and 2 consolation prizes. This year, the excellent team surpassed many "mathematical powerhouses" and was among the top teams of all participating countries with many strong "competitors".

In 2021, authorized by the International IMC Organizing Committee, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and the IEG Education Development Fund organized the selection of teams from schools in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Students selected for the team had to go through two very strict domestic selection rounds with the best candidates, then trained for six weeks to adapt to the competitions.
