Vietnam women's team says goodbye to World Cup 2023 after 3 group stage matches

With overwhelming strength, the Dutch women's team easily won 7-0 against the Vietnamese women's team in the final match of Group E, World Cup 2023. The Netherlands advanced to the top of the group.

The Vietnamese team started the match with great enthusiasm against the Netherlands. Coach Mai Duc Chung's players learned from the match with Portugal and quickly retreated to their own field when the opponent had the ball, so the Vietnamese team played very well in the first minutes.

However, the Netherlands quickly proved that they were a candidate for the championship title through finishing. Without having to put too much pressure on Vietnam, the Netherlands still scored consecutively.

In the 8th minute, Martens quickly finished from the edge of the penalty area to open the score. 3 minutes later, Snoeijs finished from outside the penalty area to double the gap.

In the 18th minute, Brugts scored after an impressive finish, the ball arced straight into the top right corner of the goal. Continuing to show off his good footwork, the Netherlands quickly got the 4th goal, Roord scored in the 23rd minute.

After scoring 4 goals, the Netherlands no longer played too aggressively, but the team had the ability to finish from a distance very well, so they continuously created scoring opportunities. In the 44th minute, van de Donk tapped the ball close to the goal after a block by Kim Thanh, setting the score at 5-0 to enter the break.

In the second half, the Netherlands continued to show their superiority and although they did not attack fiercely, the team from the land of tulips still scored two more goals. Brugts continued to score great goals, increasing the score to 5-0 in the 57th minute and Roord sealed the victory 7-0 in the 83rd minute.

The Vietnamese women's team had a few moments in the match when they attacked, however all 5 shots of coach Mai Duc Chung's students in this match were off target so they did not score an honorary goal.

After 3 consecutive losses, the Vietnamese women's team finished bottom of Group E and was eliminated, conceding 12 goals and scoring no goals.

This will be a valuable lesson for the "diamond girls" to gain more experience for the future, as well as a stepping stone to a ticket to the 2027 Women's World Cup.

As for the Netherlands, this big win helps them have 7 points after 3 matches, advancing straight to the round of 16 of the 2023 Women's World Cup as the top of the group.

In the same match, Portugal tried hard but could not create an earthquake when they only got a 0-0 draw against the defending champion USA.

This result helps the US get 5 points, rank second in group E and will likely have to face the Swedish women's team in the round of 16.
