Vietnam team lost to Kyrgyzstan

The Kyrgyzstan Football Federation homepage reported that the national team won 2-1 against the Vietnam team. In the starting lineup, midfielder Do Hung Dung was the captain.

In the 31st minute, the Kyrgyzstan team opened the score thanks to Joel Kojo. In the 63rd minute, the Vietnam team equalized 1-1 thanks to Truong Tien Anh. However, coach Philippe Troussier and his team could not maintain this score and conceded a goal in the 74th minute thanks to Aizar Akmatov. The Kyrgyzstan team won 2-1.

Due to the nature of the test and assessment of the expertise of both teams, the match will be held in an empty stadium and without media activities. This is also the regulation of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for teams when organizing friendly matches before the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.

This match also does not count towards FIFA rankings because it is not an official international friendly match.

The Vietnamese team only has this one friendly match to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup finals. Currently, the team has 30 players. On January 13, Coach Troussier will reduce the list to 26 players to finalize with the Asian Football Federation.

The 2023 Asian Cup consists of 6 groups with 24 teams. The group winners and runners-up will qualify directly for the round of 16. The remaining 4 spots belong to the third-placed teams with the best records.

The Vietnamese team is in Group D, competing with Japan (January 14), Indonesia (January 19) and Iraq (January 24). Coach Troussier has set a goal of getting past the group stage.
