Welcome by historical relic

Nguyen Than's tomb and temple (Cam Nhuong, Cam Xuyen, Ha Tinh ) is a place to worship Admiral Nguyen Than, who had great contributions in the Trinh - Nguyen conflict.

On the morning of January 11, the People's Committee of Cam Nhuong commune (Cam Xuyen) held a ceremony to receive the provincial-level historical and cultural relic certificate for Nguyen Than's tomb and temple.

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh province awarded the provincial-level historical-cultural relic ranking certificate for Nguyen Than's tomb and temple to local authorities.

Nguyen Than's tomb and temple is the burial and worship place of Admiral Nguyen Than (in Tan Hai village, Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen district). Admiral Nguyen Than was from Phu Thuong village, Dau Chu commune (now Ky Phu commune, Ky Anh district). He lived from about 1560-1602, during the Le Trung Hung period. Currently, old documents no longer exist, so it is impossible to determine the exact year of birth, year of death, and which king first appointed him.

According to legend, in the early stages of the Trinh - Nguyen war (17th century), Nguyen Than was assigned to guard the coastal area from Deo Ngang in the Hoanh Son mountain range (Ky Anh town) to Nam Gioi mountain (Thach Ha). He commanded the suppression of the Nguyen Lord's invasions, maintained stability in the coastal area, and helped the people to do business peacefully.

With his contributions, after King Le Than Tong ascended the throne for the second time (Khanh Duc reign, period from 1649-1652), Nguyen Than was awarded the title of Admiral, the title of Phu Duong Hau. After his death, successive dynasties all bestowed royal decrees. His highest position, rank and honorific title were: Kiet tiet Tuyen luc Duong vo Uy dung Tan tri cong than Dac tien Phu quoc Thuong tuong quan Than vo tu ve quan vu su; awarded the title of Ta do doc, the title of Phu Duong Hau, the honorific title Trung y Dieu toan dai than.

With his strategic vision, he chose Nhuong Ban village (now Cam Nhuong commune) to set up his headquarters as a command center, protecting the safety of the territorial waters from the Nam Gioi mountain range to Hoanh Son. In addition to military affairs, he helped the people of Nhuong Ban organize production and develop the economy .

To commemorate his merits, the government and people of Cam Nhuong commune built a mausoleum and a temple. Due to historical changes and wars, Thuong Phu temple was destroyed. However, the government and people contributed funds to restore the tomb and temple of Admiral Thuong Phu Nguyen Than. This is an important red address in the spiritual and cultural life of the people of Cam Nhuong commune.

Recognizing the contributions of Admiral Nguyen Than and the historical and cultural values of the relic, on January 13, 2023, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 124/QD-UBND on ranking the provincial-level historical and cultural relic for the tomb and temple of Nguyen Than in Cam Nhuong commune (Cam Xuyen).
