Unanimously donate land to open the road

Voluntarily moving fences, filling ponds, cutting trees, building sewers... to create conditions for local authorities and contractors to speed up the progress of rural road construction is no longer a new story in many villages in the province. Among them, Vo Mieu commune, Thanh Son district is a typical example.

The road in Coc hamlet is 800m long, with about 70 households living there. But since people started living on this land, the old path has become a road. Mr. Nguyen Van Oanh's family has lived here for decades. It's fine when it's sunny, but when it rains, the road becomes muddy, and bicycles can't go on it, let alone motorbikes. Right after the locality decided to expand this road, the people did not hesitate to donate hundreds of square meters of their family's land to expand the rural road in the spirit of the common good, for the future of their own children.

Mr. Nguyen Van Oanh's family donated 30 square meters of land to build a rural road.

Mr. Oanh is the first person in the Ruong Tan area who is ready to demolish the fence to narrow his yard by 30 square meters to widen the road. Busily cleaning up the newly built wall, Mr. Oanh shared: “When the local government mobilized to donate land to widen the road, my family moved the fence and gate to hand over the site to the construction unit. With the new road, my grandfather and I take each other for a walk every afternoon, my 2-year-old grandson babbles: What a beautiful road.”

The 1.6km long intra-field road from Coc hamlet to Ria 1 hamlet is being leveled for concrete pouring. Ms. Bui Thi Kim Thinh of Coc hamlet has filled half of the pond, 20m long and 4m wide, to make the road. Ms. Thinh shared: "The road has been widened, making it convenient for us to bring in machinery and vehicles to support production." Not sparing any effort or money, it is these open-hearted people who have inspired the movement to develop rural roads to spread throughout the hamlets and areas, and many inter-village roads are being expanded simultaneously.

To have wide and beautiful roads connecting each hamlet, households that do not have to donate land contribute labor and money to rebuild fences for households that have been demolished. Many households are willing to donate more to expand and upgrade village roads. In just a short time, 18 rural traffic routes in the commune were expanded and renewed, 34 households donated 30,500m2 of land and 193 households donated 7,800m2 of land to harden 3.63km of intra-field traffic roads. The consensus of the people was thanks to the government, the Front Work Committee and local organizations mobilizing people to participate in donating land and handing over clean land, helping the construction to be implemented soon.

Mr. Ha Nhu Ngoc - Head of Coc area said: "When there was a policy to open the road, the area coordinated with the Front Work Committee to organize meetings, ask for people's opinions, deploy the construction plan and discuss the form of contribution and implementation. Up to now, the donation of land to open the road and concretize the inter-village road has received high consensus and support from the people. The roads have been expanded, everyone is excited because they can contribute a part of the effort to build their homeland".

Ms. Bui Thi Kim Thinh's family donated 80 square meters to build an internal road.

Up to now, the movement of donating land for road construction has spread widely throughout the alleys. The fact that people voluntarily donate land without asking for compensation has created a great motivation for the locality to develop the rural transport network. Currently, 100% of the main roads in the renovated villages have a road surface of 5m or more, 85% of the alleys have been hardened to ensure light, greenness, cleanliness and beauty.

The effectiveness of the land donation movement for road construction in Vo Mieu is a clear demonstration of the spirit of solidarity of the people to join hands in building their homeland. The spacious and clean roads not only help people travel conveniently but also open up opportunities for economic development and improve the material and spiritual life of the people.
