Nearly 2,900 workers 'sprint' on Can Tho - Ca Mau highway

TPO - The Can Tho - Hau Giang and Hau Giang - Ca Mau expressways are being accelerated, with the determination to reach the finish line before December 19 this year. Currently, nearly 2,900 workers and engineers are working day and night at the construction site, with progress reaching more than 68%.

My Thuan Project Management Board (QLDA) - the investor of Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway said that as of June 25, the construction volume of the entire route reached more than 68%, the construction value reached more than 12,550 billion VND. Currently, at the construction site, contractors organized 234 construction teams, with nearly 2,900 personnel, nearly 1,000 machines, continuously working in 3 shifts, 4 teams.

Regarding disbursement, the project has withdrawn 16,969 billion VND out of the total 22,210 billion VND of allocated capital, reaching more than 76% of the total capital (in 2025 alone, it has withdrawn more than 1,711 billion VND, reaching more than 25% of the annual plan). The investor said that it is urging contractors to complete documents to disburse capital, ensuring that this June, disbursement reaches 30% of the annual plan (equal to the national average).

Currently, all 95 bridges on the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway have completed girder and bridge deck construction, and are completing the remaining work.

The entire expressway has nearly 79 km of roadbed that needs to be loaded to wait for settlement (loading from 6-10 months). Up to now, 21 km has been dredged, contractors are unloading to construct the crushed stone and asphalt concrete layer. Of which, about 10 km of crushed stone and 3.5 km of asphalt have been completed.

The remaining roadbed (58 km) is expected to be ready for unloading between July and November. The investor said that this roadbed will be constructed in a rolling manner, with construction taking place as the unloading progresses. "Ensure that the asphalt concrete layer of the entire route is completed before November 30," a representative of the My Thuan Project Management Board pledged.

As for other auxiliary construction parts of the project, such as fences, guardrails, signs... 50% of the volume has been produced so far. The erection is being carried out according to the sections that have been paved with asphalt concrete.

The Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway construction site operates continuously day and night, with 234 construction sites, nearly 2,900 workers and nearly 1,000 machines.

According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, with the attention and direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Construction and local leaders, the project has so far basically resolved the problems related to materials and site. The investor continuously launched competitions, asked contractors to work overtime, add machinery and human resources, and organize construction day and night to "overcome the sun and rain", making up for the slow progress in the past.

“There is not much time left, and it is the rainy season, but we and the contractors are committed to mobilizing all resources and speeding up construction to finish the project before December 19,” the investor representative pledged.

Contractors work overtime, add machinery, and organize construction day and night.

The Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway project is over 110 km long, part of the North - South Expressway in the East, divided into 2 component projects, the Can Tho - Hau Giang section and the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section. The project has a total investment of 27,523 billion VND, divided into 4 construction packages, starting from January 1, 2023, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The project passes through 5 localities, including Can Tho, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang and Ca Mau.
