Vietnam followed with about 29 million bags, of which 24.4 million bags were exported, leaving 4.6 million bags for domestic consumption.

In recent years, the increase in coffee prices has encouraged farmers to invest more in taking care of their gardens, while the replanting project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has also contributed to improving productivity.

However, the increase in coffee growing area in the Central Highlands provinces is posing a risk of overproduction if there is no timely adjustment.

Coffee market expert Nguyen Quang Binh warned that 2024 will see strong price fluctuations, benefiting farmers but also pushing many businesses into difficulties.

To develop sustainably, the coffee industry needs to improve its supply chain, enhance product quality and invest in deep processing to adapt to the ever-changing market.
