World oil prices today
As of 4:00 a.m. on September 12, world oil prices remained stable due to concerns about oversupply and weakening demand in the US. Brent crude fell 0.2% to $67.36/barrel, while WTI fell 0.3% to $63.50/barrel.
A day earlier, oil prices had risen more than $1 after Israel airstrikes targeted Hamas leaders in Qatar and NATO shot down a Russian drone that intruded into Poland.
The turmoil in the Middle East and Europe has kept oil prices higher than at the beginning of the month, when they had previously fallen to a three-month low. However, analysts say geopolitical factors only play a short-term supporting role, while the market is more concerned about the risk of global oversupply.
According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), US crude oil inventories increased by 3.9 million barrels in the week ending September 5, contrary to the previous forecast of a decrease of 1 million barrels. Together with signs of cooling fuel demand, this information put great pressure on oil prices.
OPEC+ has just announced that it will increase production from October, although the increase is lower than previous periods. This move is expected to weaken the oil market further as supply exceeds demand. The EIA also forecasts that in the coming months, oil prices may fall significantly due to increased production leading to large inventories.
Domestic oil prices today
Domestic gasoline prices were adjusted today from 3:00 p.m. on September 11. Gasoline prices decreased slightly while diesel and kerosene prices increased simultaneously.
Domestic retail prices of gasoline on September 12 are as follows:
- E5 RON92 gasoline price decreased by 95 VND to a maximum of 19,756 VND/liter.
- RON95 gasoline price decreased by 39 VND, to a level no higher than 20,400 VND/liter.
- Diesel oil increased by 170 VND to 18,643 VND/liter.
- Kerosene price increased by 54 VND to 18,368 VND/liter.
- Fuel oil price decreased by 286 VND, down to a maximum of 15,090 VND/kg.
During this operating period, the Joint Ministry continues not to set aside or spend the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for all products, including gasoline and oil.
Since the beginning of 2025, gasoline prices have increased 21 times, decreased 14 times and increased and decreased once. This continuous fluctuation reflects the impact of the world crude oil market as well as domestic supply and demand.
