To promptly hand over the site to the construction unit as committed, Mr. Nguyen Duc Lai's family (Quy Thanh 1 village, Thang Binh commune) was busy dismantling the old house and arranging furniture to the resettlement site.

The work was accelerated when local militia and youths came to help. The forces also supported Mr. Lai’s family in building a temporary house to take shelter and store belongings before the new house was completed.

“My house was completely cleared, so I had to take the trouble to dismantle a lot of items and materials that could be reused. With the support of the militia, my family saved on labor costs,” Mr. Lai shared.

The project to improve and upgrade National Highway 14E through Thang Binh Commune is nearly 4.2km long. To date, the locality has handed over more than 80% of the site to the construction unit.

Regarding the railway overpass project, the competent authority has approved compensation plans for 56/59 households with a total amount of more than 12 billion VND. Of these, 48 households have received money and committed to handing over the site.

In addition to coordinating with relevant units to speed up compensation and resettlement procedures, the People's Committee of Thang Binh commune mobilized militia and local youth to each household to grasp the support wishes. The presence of these forces helped people to dismantle and move their assets to the gathering place quickly, safely and economically.

Mr. Pham Van Thong (Quy Thanh 1 village) said that the project's delay in approval and resettlement has affected people's lives for a long time. When the two-level local government operates, officials actively meet, dialogue, and listen to the people's thoughts and aspirations.

Activities such as supporting dismantling, transporting furniture, building temporary houses for households in difficulty, etc. demonstrate a proactive spirit, sympathy and willingness to accompany people affected by the project.

Over the past week, the Military Command of Thang Binh commune has demolished more than 5 houses in the clearance area, prioritizing support for households in difficulty and lacking human resources.

Thang Binh Commune People's Committee is continuing to mobilize more volunteers to support the remaining households to soon complete the handover of the site to the construction unit.

Mr. Doan Thanh Khiet, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thang Binh Commune, said that in order to complete the project by the end of this year, the locality is actively implementing solutions to hand over 100% of the land to the commune. Fortunately, through mobilization and propaganda, the people have accepted the compensation and land clearance plan.

“We continue to implement accompanying and supporting plans to help people resettle and stabilize their lives soon. This is a way for local authorities to strengthen trust and spread high consensus in compensation and site clearance work,” said Mr. Khiet.
