With the participation of departments, branches, local authorities, environmental enterprises and youth volunteers, the appearance of the capital has been increasingly clean and civilized, creating an exciting and solemn atmosphere before the country's important political and cultural event.
Mobilize all forces to keep the streets clean and beautiful
To serve the training, preliminary review and especially the general rehearsal for the parade, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited (Urenco) have developed and implemented a plan to enhance environmental sanitation throughout the area.

Urenco Deputy General Director Nguyen Thanh Son said that since August 15, general cleaning work has been carried out regularly and continuously by units until September 5. Thousands of sanitation workers have been assigned to be on duty, collecting garbage early before the road closure, ensuring the streets are clear and clean. Particularly on important streets, such as: Tran Phu, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Trinh Hoai Duc, Kim Ma, Hang Khay..., the environmental workers maintain 4 sweeps and collections per day using a combination of mechanical and manual means, 2 sweeps and 2 specialized street washing vehicles.
In addition, the Hanoi Youth Union mobilized 6,300 youth volunteers to coordinate with Urenco to collect trash, distribute trash bags, and remind people to maintain public hygiene. In particular, to support the collection work, the units prepared 800 trash bag hangers and distributed 25,000 plastic bags to volunteers and people. After collection, Urenco transported the trash on the same day, not leaving it to accumulate and cause unsightliness. In fact, after the first training session on August 21, the central wards: Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam, Hai Ba Trung, Ba Dinh... generated about 30 tons of trash, but all of it was handled neatly before 4:00 a.m. on August 22.

However, according to Ms. Tran Thi Hong Nhung, Head of the Environmental Team in charge of Ba Dinh Square area, during the implementation process, environmental sanitation work also encountered many difficulties, such as: Prolonged road closures; many environmental workers, especially drivers operating equipment, had to work at high intensity, long shifts causing fatigue; the number of people and tourists gathered in the central area was larger than expected, leading to the situation of littering at the wrong time, putting pressure on the collection stage.
After the first evening of practice, in some crowded areas such as Nguyen Thai Hoc, Kim Ma, Bac Co flower garden, Tran Nhan Tong... it was recorded that a small number of visitors were littering in the wrong places and some socialized facilities (residential houses, shops, offices) were not open to serve the people; specialized vehicles such as pumping and water supply trucks were facing difficulties because they had not been granted a license to circulate during the road closure period,...

Spreading the image of a civilized capital on a big festival day
Faced with the above problems, on August 22, the Department of Agriculture and Environment and Urenco Company held an urgent meeting to find the optimal solution for the upcoming rehearsal and parade days on September 2. Urenco Deputy General Director Nguyen Thanh Son said that the city agreed to adjust and add more mobile toilets in the Le Truc - Hung Vuong area, Hang Day Stadium, Mai Xuan Thuong flower garden, Tran Nhan Tong walking street... At the same time, continue to mobilize agencies, organizations and households to open free toilets, contributing to sharing the pressure with the general system.

Along with that, the city has increased propaganda and mobilized people and tourists attending the parade to maintain hygiene, not litter, reduce the use of disposable plastic bags, contributing to building the image of the capital as "Bright - green - clean - beautiful - civilized".
On the evening of August 22, leaders of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment inspected and presented gifts to encourage environmental sanitation workers. Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Xuan Dai said: “Environmental sanitation work for the rehearsal ceremony and the official holiday of September 2 is an important political task. In the past few days, units have mobilized maximum human resources and means to ensure that the streets are always clean, safe, and create a good impression in the eyes of the people and international friends. This is also an opportunity to affirm the motto of building a capital city “Bright - green - clean - beautiful - civilized”.

From now until September 2, the number of visitors and people gathering in the city center continues to increase. The Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment requests units to continue to concentrate human resources and means on environmental sanitation work. At the same time, the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment also called on people and tourists to comply with environmental sanitation in public places and tourist attractions. "Every small action, from throwing garbage in the right place to reminding relatives and friends, contributes to creating the image of a civilized and elegant Hanoi, worthy of being the heart of the whole country," Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai emphasized.

The synchronous participation of agencies, organizations, businesses and communities is creating an exciting atmosphere, spreading beautiful actions in society. With the motto "Bright - green - clean - beautiful - civilized" as the guiding principle, Hanoi city is ready for a solemn and brilliant parade rehearsal, leaving a beautiful impression in the hearts of people and tourists.
