Thousands of meters of electrical wire connecting cameras under the bridge in Ho Chi Minh City were stolen.

TPO - Thousands of meters of electric wires and cables connecting the camera system under bridges in Ho Chi Minh City were stolen, causing difficulties for the management and operation unit because they cannot control the traffic flow of ships and boats passing through the bridge and cannot extract cameras to check related information if there is an incident of collision with the bridge pillars or walls.

The Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center has just sent a document to the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Transport Inspectorate and localities to inform about the continued theft of electric wires and cables connecting camera systems at bridge constructions with waterway traffic.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center, on January 29, the Center issued a document informing about the theft of electric wires and cables connecting camera systems at bridge constructions with waterway traffic.

The above document is sent to agencies and units and recommends that the People's Committees of districts, towns, agencies and units in the area where camera works pass through the area support in arranging security forces, patrolling order, propagandizing and mobilizing against theft and destruction of property of bridge works and other related auxiliary equipment.

Up to now, through inspection and review of the infrastructure connection system installed on bridge works such as power sources, grounding systems... Ho Chi Minh City Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center has found that the theft of power lines, bare copper cables, and HDPE spiral pipes of some bridge works continues to occur in almost all districts and Thu Duc City where traffic surveillance cameras are installed at the bridge platforms.

Specifically, the volume of power supply wiring system and bare copper cables stolen up to now includes: Duplex CV (DU) 2x10mm power cable stolen 882m; DSTA 2x10mm power cable stolen 1,605m; C10mm grounding cable (bare copper cable) stolen 3,654m. The estimated value of theft up to this point is over 300 million VND.

Of these, the bridges that were lost the most include: Cho Dem Bridge, Rach Tam Bridge, Binh Dien 2 Bridge, Xang Bridge, New Xang Bridge (Binh Chanh District); An Nghia Bridge, Dan Xay Bridge, Ha Thanh 2 Bridge, Loi Giang 2 Bridge, Long Giang Xay 2 Bridge, Rach La Bridge, Rach Don 2 Bridge (Can Gio District); Kenh Ngang Bridge No. 2 Bridge, Chanh Hung Bridge (District 8); Binh Phuoc Bridge 1 and 2 Bridge, Thu Thiem Bridge, Binh Loi Bridge, Binh Trieu Bridge 1 and 2 Bridge (Thu Duc City); Kenh Te Bridge (District 7).

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center, the theft, cutting of power lines, bare copper cables and vandalism of these systems not only causes loss of state assets, causing difficulties for the management and operation unit when it cannot control the flow of vessels passing through the bridge area, but also leads to the inability to extract cameras to check related information if there is an incident of collision with the bridge pillars or walls.

To ensure waterway traffic safety, limit the loss of state assets, and cause difficulties for the management and operation units, the Ho Chi Minh City Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center has requested the People's Committees of districts, towns and Thu Duc City and related agencies and units to participate in supporting the strengthening of security forces, patrolling order, and propagandizing and mobilizing people not to steal or destroy property of bridge works and other related auxiliary equipment.

At the same time, localities need to direct police units and civil defense units to patrol and inspect to promptly detect and handle subjects showing signs of encroachment, theft, and destruction of property related to bridge projects.
