High school students develop game projects on Roblox platform

After three weeks of experiencing the game development process from idea generation to prototyping, dozens of revisions with advisors, three groups of students confidently presented three unique game ideas. Among them, the outstanding idea was unanimously selected by the Jury to continue developing into a real game project, “Edelweiss Outbreak” - a survival game developed by a group of four students from Khoa Nguyen Linh Linh, Annie Diep, Vo Minh Quang, and Nguyen Chi Toan.

The game builds a fantasy space where players will build and defend their base, while exploring the vast open world around them. During that journey, players must face “zombies” exploring abandoned buildings and collecting items necessary for survival. The product not only impresses with its creativity but also shows that the team has approached game development with a technical perspective, understanding the market, the platform and understanding the behavior and psychology of players.

Annie Diep, a member of the winning team, shared her creative journey on the Roblox platform: “Creating on the Roblox platform is a special experience for the whole team, because unlike many other games on the market, Roblox is like a “sandbox” (testing area) that allows players to be developers. By understanding the audience and the needs of the players - which are also their needs, the developers will suggest elements that meet the things that players need but do not have. Besides, Roblox is also a game platform with countless different game genres for us to freely role-play, from which the team has learned and supplemented to develop our own products."

It is known that during the summer camp program, these students did not simply learn about programming or design, but were exposed to a complete product development process, from forming ideas, researching user behavior, managing multiple project items, to marketing strategies. From the initial rough ideas to the final presentation, the students went through a very practical learning process: Learning how to ask questions, come up with solutions, persuade, and accept trial and error many times. That journey not only helped high school students understand more about the game industry, but also equipped them with teamwork, communication and critical thinking skills.

Roblox is not unfamiliar to high school students, who are used to playing games on this platform, so they are not overwhelmed like when exposed to other complex programming tools. Roblox's strength is its open environment, allowing students to freely create, build worlds, game rules and characters in their own way. With Roblox, VNGGames wants to inspire and create opportunities for students to see that right from high school, they can create their own personal technology products.

A representative of VNGGames said that the program is part of a long-term orientation to invest in technology education and develop creative thinking for the young generation. Roblox Summer Internship 2025 is the first step for VNGGames to build a bridge between education and the gaming industry, expanding the digital content creation community.
