Locals often joke that whenever the drum beats at Ong Bay Temple, the persimmons on the trees start to turn yellow. The festive atmosphere spreads from the temple yard to every garden, where the golden seedless persimmons hang heavily on the branches, as if inviting visitors. This is the result of generations of cultivation, with some persimmon trees having witnessed dozens of festival seasons.

Walking around the garden with dozens of old rose trees of his family, Mr. Pham Van Dien, in Lien Ha 6 village, Bao Ha commune, boasted: "It has been 30-40 years since the first fruit was planted, but there has never been a year of failure. The older the tree, the more fruit it bears. The branches must be supported or they will all break. On average, 10 thousand VND/kg, some trees yield 4-5 quintals, equivalent to 4-5 million VND."

Old persimmons can be soaked in well water for 3-4 days to make pickled persimmons.

From the rose roots of our ancestors, up to now, seedless rose has become the main crop of the locality, famous as a natural "clean" product, almost without the need for intervention of pesticides.

Regarding the special value of the native persimmon, Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Head of Lien Ha 6 village, affirmed: "This persimmon variety is very precious, up to now it has mainly grown naturally. Honestly, sometimes it has not even received a drop of water for irrigation, except in places with flat land conditions, people only add a little fertilizer, and do not spray pesticides, but the persimmons still bear fruit."

Thanks to that special quality, the Bao Ha rose brand is increasingly affirmed. The product has been officially recognized as a 3-star OCOP, becoming the pride of the people and a meaningful gift for tourists when coming to Bao Ha.

Ms. Luc Thi Tuyen - economic officer of the commune said that the area of native persimmon trees is currently about 300 hectares. In the past, persimmon trees were mainly grown and harvested by the people in the traditional way on the hillsides, the products supplied to the market were only ripe persimmons and pickled persimmons.

Bao Ha ripe persimmons are also a delicious treat for guests.

"In the future, we will also apply new scientific advances to help people improve quality and productivity, moving towards having other products such as crispy dried persimmons, dried soft persimmons, persimmon juice... and not just stopping at fresh persimmons like now," Ms. Luc Thi Tuyen shared.

Coming to Bao Ha these days, visitors not only immerse themselves in the unique spiritual and cultural space, but also have the opportunity to enjoy the sweet and crunchy taste of freshly picked persimmons in the garden. It is a blessing from heaven and earth, and the kind heart of the people here.
