Cooperate and promote the development of the fisheries sector in Can Tho city

(CT) - On September 15, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD) of Can Tho City had a working session with the School of Fisheries - Can Tho University on the results of cooperation between the two sides in developing the fisheries sector in the period of 2021-2025 and proposing cooperation directions for the period of 2026-2030.

In the period of 2021-2025, specialized agencies under the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, especially the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control, have had many coordinated activities with the School of Fisheries - Can Tho University in the field of fisheries and have achieved many remarkable results. Thereby, it has actively contributed to the development of the fisheries sector in Can Tho City. Notably, the cooperation and coordination in implementing research activities, resource investigation, building production models, training, and technology transfer have provided scientific and practical bases for the protection and development of aquatic resources in the city. Cooperation in research and application of new technologies in breeding and developing specialty aquaculture has also been focused on and has implemented artificial reproduction of loach, applied biotechnology to develop eel farming and loach farming, etc.

At the meeting, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City, along with specialized units of the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the School of Fisheries - Can Tho University discussed and reviewed the results achieved in the coordination and cooperation between the two sides in the past time and proposed cooperation directions in the period 2026-2030. Accordingly, the two sides agreed to continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation to promote the development of the city's fisheries sector, while helping to promote the resources and strengths of the School of Fisheries - Can Tho University. The content of coordination and cooperation in the coming time will not only focus on improving the quality of human resources in the fisheries sector but also promote the implementation of topics and projects to develop fisheries in a modern direction, adapting to climate change.
