Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB ) has just increased interest rates for deposits with terms from 2-5 months.
Accordingly, the online deposit interest rate for 2-month term increased by 0.1 percentage point to 3.9%/year. With an increase of 0.3 percentage point, the 3-5 month term increased to 4.3%/year.
VIB keeps the deposit interest rate unchanged for the remaining terms. The 1-month term is 3.8%/year, the 6-8-month term has an interest rate of 5.1%/year, the 9-11-month term is 5.2%/year, the 15-18-month term is 5.6%/year and the 24-36-month term is 5.8%/year.
Although only adjusting for some short terms, VIB is one of three banks that have increased interest rates since the beginning of November, after OCB and BIDV (reduced interest rates then increased again after 10 days).
WithOCB , the bank increases interest rates for terms from 18-36 months.
Since the beginning of November, 24 banks have reduced deposit interest rates, including Sacombank, NCB, VIB, BaoVietBank, Nam A Bank, VPBank, VietBank, SHB, Techcombank, Bac A Bank, KienLongBank, ACB, Dong A Bank, PG Bank, PVCombank, VietA Bank, SCB, Eximbank, OceanBank, BVBank, OCB, TPBank, CBBank, HDBank.
Among them, VietBank and Dong A Bank are the banks that have reduced interest rates twice this November.
According to the announcement of the State Bank on November 15, interbank interest rates decreased sharply compared to last weekend. Interest rates for overnight, 1-week, and 2-week terms were 0.26% - 0.40% and 0.77%, respectively, down 0.47% - 0.51% and 0.49%, respectively.
As of November 16, the State Bank has not issued treasury bills to withdraw money for 6 consecutive sessions after nearly 2 consecutive months of issuing treasury bills.
Also in the last 6 sessions, nearly 100,000 billion VND of treasury bills have matured, meaning a corresponding amount of money has been pumped back into the system.
From now until the end of November, about 100,000 billion VND of maturing treasury bills will be pumped back into the market.
