Another nationwide recall of GAMMA Company's facial cleanser batch due to containing undeclared substances

The Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) has just announced the suspension of circulation and nationwide recall of the Gammaphil Specialized Facial Cleanser product batch - 125ml bottle distributed by GAMMA Company because it was found to contain substances not included in the announced formula.

Nationwide recall of violating product batches and recall of declaration forms

This is a product of GAMMA Pharmaceutical - Cosmetic Production Company Limited (formerly known as GAMMA Private Enterprise for Cosmetic Chemical Production) with office address at 18 Nguyen Hau Street, Tan Thanh Ward, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City. Production address at Group 1, Phu Hiep Hamlet, Phu Hoa Dong Commune, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City.

The recalled product batch has batch number GMPA010524, production date May 2, 2024, expiration date May 2, 2027, and Declaration receipt number 000669/21/CBMP-HCM.

According to test certificate No. 25L-020MP dated June 17 of the Center for Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing - Yen Bai Provincial Department of Health, the tested product sample contained two substances Methylparaben and Propylparaben (preservatives commonly used in cosmetics) but were not declared in the published product formula.

Therefore, the Drug Administration Department requests the suspension of circulation and urgent recall of the above product batch nationwide. At the same time, it requires businesses and cosmetic users to immediately stop selling and using this batch of facial cleanser and return it to the supplier.

The Drug Administration Department requests GAMMA Company to send recall notices to places that have distributed and used the product batch; receive the products back from the business establishments; recall and destroy the entire batch of violating products. At the same time, send a recall and destruction report to the Drug Administration Department before August 2, 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health is assigned the responsibility of supervising the business's recall and destruction process and handling violations according to regulations if they are found to be in violation.

In addition, carry out procedures to withdraw cosmetic product declaration receipt number 000669/21/CBMP-HCM according to regulations.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the cosmetics production and trading activities of GAMMA Company, ensuring compliance with current laws on cosmetics.

Many products have been recalled.

Previously, on May 27, the Drug Administration Department also issued a decision to suspend circulation, request the recall and destruction of the entire batch of Adaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser - 125ml bottle with batch number ADSX010324 distributed by GAMMA Company to the market.

The reason for the recall is that test results showed that the product sample contained two preservatives, Methylparaben and Propylparaben, which were not listed in the product declaration file approved by the Drug Administration of Vietnam.

In October 2024, the Drug Administration of Vietnam also decided to suspend the circulation, recall and destroy 2 batches of Cerina products under the GAMMA brand because they contained the ingredient 2-phenoxyethanol, which was not declared in the cosmetic declaration formula.

Experts recommend stopping use of recalled products and contacting the place of purchase for return instructions as prescribed. Consumers can report information to the local health department if they discover the product is still being sold after the recall.
