This year, as planned, she will tour three cities in Canada for about three weeks with singers from the Two Generations Steps group organized by singer Duong Dinh Tri, her son.
"Because I was abroad, I couldn't contact the familiar pagodas, so as soon as I returned home, everyone called me in droves. Luckily, from now until the end of Vu Lan season, I can sing for people in many pagodas, many provinces and cities, about ten shows," Le Thuy said.
She added that if Buddha's birthday is only for about a week, Vu Lan season is for a whole month, sometimes she sings 2-3 shows a day.
Le Thuy confided: "I sing so much but I don't feel tired. To me, Vu Lan festival is a cultural beauty that should be preserved.
This is an occasion for children to reflect on their parents' kindness, so that they can live a good life, in accordance with filial piety. As a child, now also a mother, a grandmother and an artist, I feel it is my responsibility to bring these meaningful messages to the audience.
Especially with young audiences, some of them confided that after listening to me sing, they felt awakened. There are things that they have neglected their parents because of their carelessness. Parents are still alive, so cherish them because it will be too late to regret later!
