Just over two weeks after losing to the Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup final, Inter Miami got impressive revenge when the two teams met again in MLS.
This match was meant to be a revenge match for Inter Miami, who were defeated 3-0 by Sounders in the Leagues Cup final on August 31. As early as the 12th minute, Messi showed his class when he made a delicate pass with the outside of his left foot, creating an opportunity for Jordi Alba to score the opening goal, helping Inter Miami quickly control the game.

The Argentine superstar almost doubled the lead in the 28th minute when he received the ball from above and continued to shoot with his familiar left foot, but the ball unfortunately hit the post.
However, Alba responded with an assist in the 41st minute. The Spaniard sent the ball to Messi, who got just enough touch to make it 2-0. Early in the second half, Ian Fray headed home a Rodrigo De Paul corner to extend the lead to 3-0 for the Herons.
The Seattle Sounders found the consolation goal in the 69th minute through Obed Vargas. The Mexican international scored on his country's Independence Day.
Inter Miami will continue to play without Luis Suarez, who is serving the second match of a three-game MLS ban for inappropriate conduct with a member of the Sounders' coaching staff in the Leagues Cup final.
Messi had a chance to complete his double in the 76th minute, but his shot was saved by Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei. The match also saw the debut of Inter Miami new signing Mateo Silvetti, who moved from Messi's boyhood club, Newell's Old Boys in Argentina.
Both teams will continue their MLS journeys. Inter Miami will host DC United on September 20, while the Sounders will face Austin FC on September 21.
