In a statement, Prime Minister al-Sudani's office condemned the attack as "a new act of aggression against Iraq's sovereignty ." The statement also denied that the attack was coordinated in advance by Baghdad and Washington, asserting that such information was "lies."

According to the statement, the presence of the US-led military coalition in the region “has become a threat to security and stability in Iraq, and a pretext to justify dragging Iraq into regional and international conflicts.”

On the same day, Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned the US airstrikes on the night of February 2 on targets in Iraq and Syria as "violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity" of these two countries.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said the attacks were a strategic mistake by the US and would only lead to a trend of increasing tension and instability in the region.

On the night of February 2, the US military conducted multiple airstrikes against more than 85 targets in Iraq and Syria related to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its affiliated militias, in retaliation for a drone attack on a military base in Jordan last weekend that killed three US soldiers.

In a related development, Reuters news agency quoted security sources as confirming that there was no attack on the US al-Harir airbase in Iraq after the "Islamic Resistance" militia group in Iraq announced it was targeting the facility.

Earlier, on February 2, the US military conducted multiple airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against more than 85 targets linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and IRGC-backed militia groups in retaliation for a drone attack last weekend in northeastern Jordan that killed three US soldiers.
