Male student was beaten by classmates and had to be hospitalized

On October 12, a clip was circulated on Facebook recording a male student being beaten by two classmates in the classroom.

According to the 3-second clip, two male students continuously punched another student sitting on a chair in the head and face.

The incident was said to have been recorded in a classroom at Bac Son Secondary and High School (Tuyen Hoa district, Quang Binh province).

Ms. Bui Thi Thanh Ha confirmed that on October 3, during recess, her younger brother BVK (grade 11/2 student at Bac Son Secondary and High School) was sitting in class when two male students named MTQ (student in the same class) and PTT (grade 11/4) jumped in and beat him up.

"After being beaten, K. was taken to the union office. At that time, my younger brother had a headache, dizziness, and nausea. The family had to take K. to the hospital," said Ms. Ha.

At Huong Khe Medical Center, K. was diagnosed with "other specified injuries affecting multiple areas of the body." On October 7, K. was discharged from the hospital and returned to school. However, while at school, K continued to have headaches, dizziness, and nausea, so her family took K. to the Commune Health Station for an IV.

Ms. Ha added that while K. was studying at school, he was threatened with being beaten many times, which made him plan to drop out of school. His family encouraged K. to continue his studies.

"We hope that the authorities will handle the case seriously, so that similar cases of school violence do not happen again," said Ms. Ha.

Responding to the press, Mr. Tran Xuan Bach, Principal of Bac Son Secondary and High School, confirmed that the above incident occurred at his school. Immediately after the incident occurred, the school immediately took notice and worked with the students and their families, and reported to the police for coordination. Currently, the authorities are working and have not yet had specific results.

"On the school's side, after receiving the police's conclusion, we will hold a meeting and take steps to handle and discipline the offending student," said Mr. Bach.
