On the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of National Day September 2, the capital's tourism industry welcomed a special event, dozens of reporters from international news agencies and newspapers, along with overseas Vietnamese reporters came to Vietnam to report on the activities of the Anniversary. Along with that, there were also tours to promote Hanoi tourism to international friends and public opinion. These are international reporters and overseas Vietnamese reporters participating in the program organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with Hanoi city, they came from countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Bulgaria... During their days in Vietnam, the press delegation visited and surveyed attractive tourist destinations of the capital such as: Duong Lam ancient village (Son Tay ward), Bat Trang pottery village (Bat Trang commune), experienced the double-decker bus...
In Bat Trang, the reporters visited the Vietnamese Craft Village Essence Center to hear about the history and culture of the pottery village and experience making pottery. The reporters also visited the ancient village, communal house, and temple, and experienced the cuisine of this thousand-year-old pottery village. Reporter Yury Sigov (Business Week - Business Weekly, Russia) said: "I am very impressed with the fusion of traditional and modern culture of Bat Trang pottery village, this is a vivid demonstration of how Vietnam preserves its cultural identity in the process of international integration. I will definitely introduce this experience to my readers." In addition to visiting heritage sites, the international and overseas Vietnamese delegation also participated in many activities to celebrate National Day September 2 in Hanoi. Press trip (promoting tourism through invited reporters and journalists) is not a new activity and has been implemented by Hanoi City.
However, inviting a group of reporters and journalists at the right time when Hanoi is the key location for the activities of the 80th National Day Celebration on September 2nd will help reporters have many special experiences, enhancing the media effect. Director of the Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said: "The Hanoi tourism industry hopes that through this practical experience of international reporters and overseas reporters, the image of the capital with a thousand years of culture, modernity but still imbued with identity will spread widely on international media."
In addition to inviting visitors, Hanoi also proactively participates in major tourism promotion events abroad. In mid-August, the Department of Tourism organized the program "Hanoi Tourism Days" with the theme "Hanoi: Safe - Friendly - Quality - Attractive Destination" when participating in the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai (Japan). The capital's tourism industry introduced to Japanese people and international tourists the heritage, history, culture and people of modern, integrated Hanoi; promoted handicraft products, tourist souvenirs from traditional craft villages. In addition, many interesting and interactive experiences such as enjoying Hanoi's delicacies, making traditional lotus tea... were welcomed by visitors. In addition, visitors can also access information about tourism businesses and tourism products of Hanoi and Vietnam, especially content aimed at the Japanese market.
If Japan is a traditional tourism market, India is a new, potential market for Hanoi. From September 2 to 6, the capital's tourism industry participated in the ITB India International Tourism Fair in Mumbai and the Vietnam Tourism Promotion Program in Bengaluru (organized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism). At the ITB India Fair 2025, Hanoi introduced a unique booth, featuring the image of Khue Van Cac and the slogan "Hanoi - Come to love". The exhibition space introduces typical tourism products such as cultural heritage, cuisine, craft villages, MICE tourism, luxury resort tourism, night tourism and regional tours. The booth also shows promotional videos, publishes tourism publications, and organizes connections between Hanoi tourism businesses and Indian partners... This is an important premise to stimulate tourism demand from the Indian market. After the fair in Mumbai, the Hanoi delegation continued to participate in the Vietnam Tourism Promotion Program in Bengaluru. Here, representatives of the tourism industry and businesses of Hanoi met with the local government and tourism associations to share experiences in management and product development, and seek long-term cooperation opportunities.
Inviting international reporters and proactively participating in promotional activities in other countries, especially important markets, is a strategic step to expand market share and affirm Hanoi's tourism brand on the international tourism map. According to Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu, through a series of tourism promotion activities, Hanoi not only promotes its destination brand, but also opens up opportunities for connection and business cooperation with many other strategic partners. This is expected to be a new driving force to enhance the competitiveness of the capital's tourism, contributing positively to socio-economic growth.
