On September 24, social networks were abuzz with a post about a "Plan to honor the Diamond - Gold - Silver - Bronze Parents Association, school year 2025-2026" which was said to be issued by the Parents Association of Yen My High School.
Accordingly, the purpose is to mobilize the strength of parents in improving the quality of teaching and learning, building a modern and friendly learning environment. Along with that is to support students in learning, physical and mental health, creating conditions for them to develop comprehensively.
The fund's activities include support for learning, extracurricular activities, facilities and environment, and community and volunteer activities.
Notably, the plan clearly states to acknowledge and thank parents' contributions in the form of diamonds, gold, silver, and bronze.
Specifically, parents who sponsor 20 million VND or more will be honored with the diamond rank. Benefits include being honored at the opening and closing ceremonies, receiving a gold plaque of gratitude at the school, certificates of merit and medals, having their names appear on printed banners, and being invited to attend special school events...
Next, sponsors from 11 to 19 million VND will be honored with the gold rank, with benefits including a certificate of merit and a thank you letter, honored at the closing ceremony, and have their names listed on the school's gratitude board.
Parents who sponsor from 6-10 million VND will be honored with silver status, receive a certificate, be recognized in the year-end parent-teacher association report, and be thanked in the school/class newsletter.
Finally, the bronze class has a support level of 3-5 million VND, receives a thank you letter from the parents' representative committee and is listed on the class/school's thank you list.
After being shared on social networks, the plan received many negative reactions from the public. In particular, the plan to honor and rank parents based on their contribution level was strongly condemned by many people, who said that this was an offensive act and went against the principle of voluntary contribution.
Speaking with Education and Times newspaper, Ms. Luu Phuong Anh, Vice Principal of Yen My High School, affirmed that the information spreading on social networks is false.
"Immediately after receiving the information, the school's Board of Directors worked with the parents' association. The parents' association representatives confirmed that they did not make this plan," said Ms. Luu Phuong Anh.
Ms. Luu Phuong Anh added that, towards the 60th anniversary of its founding, the school has an open letter calling for voluntary contributions from staff, teachers, students, alumni, parents, organizations and businesses. All help, no matter how big or small, is appreciated by the school and a thank you letter is sent in a public and transparent manner.
“In response to misleading information appearing on social networks, the school has requested the authorities to verify and clarify the origin of the fake document, so as not to negatively affect the reputation and honor of the school,” said the Vice Principal of Yen My High School.
