The album is released in 2 CD format (17 tracks), with a QR code to download the original high-quality file, with the participation of more than 20 leading domestic vocalists and choir groups.
15 song can be divided into thematic groups: "National Heroes" with the songs Tieng Trong Me Linh (Hai Ba Trung), Ngon Co Lau (Dinh Bo Linh defeated the rebellion of 12 warlords), Duc Thanh Tran (Tran Quoc Tuan), Ly Trieu Danh Tuong (Ly Thuong Kiet), Hoang De Ao Vai (Nguyen Hue); "Legends" include the story of Co Loa citadel with the legend of the Magic Crossbow; "Fairy tales" with Son Tinh-Thuy Tinh, Truong Chi-My Nuong, Thach Sanh, Banh Chung-Banh Giay.
In addition, the album also includes the songs Hao Khi Thang Long, Tinh Than Dong A, Bach Dang Giang, along with Duc Thanh Tran, creating a group of songs about the Tran Dynasty's three victories over the Yuan-Mongol army.
According to musician Hoai An, these themes are connected, and the Fairy Tales section also aims to educate children about the character of Vietnamese people: loyalty, bravery, and love.
“Traditional values of Vietnamese culture and people, history building and defending the country, beautiful words and meanings from folk songs and proverbs... create a very unique Vietnamese Soul. I hope to be able to convey a part of the Vietnamese Soul in these 15 songs, and if possible, I will write more...", musician Hoai An shared.
According to musician Hoai An, he was lucky to have the opportunity to collaborate with many singers, both school and market. When performing Vietnamese Soul, the top criteria of musician Hoai An when choosing a singer is the compatibility with the song, and the voice has real talent. The first singer to record the Vietnamese Soul series is Vo Ha Tram. In the most recent songs are two tenors Tran Duy Linh and Doan Dai Hoa. In addition, there is a super high and "weird" tenor, Tran Huu Kien (Son Tinh-Thuy Tinh, Bach Dang Giang).
Besides, young singers like Nha Thy, Khanh Hue , Ho Thao Nguyen, Kim Ngoc, Cong Quoc, Minh Khang, Linh Hoa have brought freshness to the fairy tale-legend songs in the album Hon Viet.
It is known that some songs in Hon Viet were previously well received such as Truyen thuy Co Loa (singer Dam Vinh Hung in the live show Gio H, 2004), Truong Chi-My Nuong (singers Dan Truong-Thanh Thao in the live show Mai mai mot tinh yeu, 2004), Cong on Hung Vuong (Vo Ha Tram)...
In addition, Ngon Co Lau and Tinh Than Dong A are used as background music for some martial arts and dance clips. New songs that have just been produced will need a while for the album to be released.
“I think the school environment and festivals are places where the songs in the album Hon Viet can be widely spread. I want to arouse love for Vietnamese history and national pride through melodies and lyrics. From the Dong A spirit to folk love stories, from heroic drum beats to the legend of Tet cakes – all carry within them the rich identity of 'Hon Viet',” said musician Hoai An.
