Born and raised on the land of “human geniuses and spiritual land for thousands of years” - the land of emperors, where the land is sacred, the people are talented and the customs are pure. All of these factors have contributed to creating the “appearance” or molding the character, character and dignity of the people of Thanh land.
Lam Kinh Festival is to pay tribute and praise the merits of ancestors, especially King Le Thai To - the founder of the Later Le Dynasty.
Discussing the character of the people and talents of Thanh land, the book “Dai Nam Nhat Thong Chi” has a passage: “The scholars love literature and respect character. Every generation has outstanding and generous talents, thanks to the quintessence of the mountains and rivers”. This is completely well-founded if we look deeply into the past, from this land of “the gathering of the elite” many kings, generals, and scholars were born, whose talents and contributions were engraved in history.
During more than a thousand years of Chinese domination, the country was placed under harsh domination, enslavement, and assimilation. However, with a tradition of patriotism and determination not to be slaves, the people of the whole country, including the people of Cuu Chan ( Thanh Hoa ), continuously rose up against the domination and regained independence for the nation. At many times, this land became the center of gathering the strength of the entire nation, to create many resounding victories. Among them was the uprising of the heroic woman Trieu Thi Trinh (year 248) with the aspiration of "riding strong winds, stepping on fierce waves, killing whales in the East Sea, driving out the Wu army, regaining the country, and freeing the yoke of slavery"; or the resistance war against the Southern Han army of Duong Dinh Nghe (year 931); or Le Hoan - the one who "eliminated internal traitors to take over the country, drove out foreign invaders to pacify the people, brought peace to the country, and brought peace to the North and South"... And especially Binh Dinh King Le Loi with the Lam Son uprising to pacify Ngo and found the Later Le dynasty whose name will forever be remembered.
As a land of historical and cultural exchange and convergence, the "appearance" of Thanh Hoa people is also the "appearance" of scholars "with swords on their backs and soft pens in their hands" - both brave, courageous, full of determination and indomitable spirit; and talented, refined, loving learning and beauty. For nearly 4 centuries, under the two prosperous dynasties of Ly (1009-1225) and Tran (1225-1400), many famous mandarins and good generals from Thanh Hoa appeared such as Dao Cam Moc, Le Phung Hieu (Ly dynasty); Le Van Huu, Le Quat, Tran Khat Chan (Tran dynasty)... Not only that, from this land of "establishing the imperial career", Thanh Hoa people not only "advance to the North" with many generations of scholars and mandarins; but also make a "Southward advance" associated with the glorious career of "carrying swords to open up the country" of Lord Nguyen Hoang and the pioneers from the mid-16th century.
It can be said that the mark of Thanh Hoa, specifically the Thanh Hoa people, in the history of the nation is undeniable. As commented by a historical researcher, for most of the historical period from the 15th century to the mid-20th century, the bravery, intelligence, and contributions of the Thanh people were clearly shown through the presence of dynasties associated with three great families: the Le, the Trinh, and the Nguyen - with authentic origins in Thanh. That affirms the stature and important position of Thanh Hoa land in the long history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people. That position and stature are specifically shown through the unique qualities of outstanding figures, of the noble families, and the great families in Thanh land that were present in the history of Vietnam in the Middle Ages.

From that very proud historical and cultural source, entering the Ho Chi Minh era, the imprint of the land and people of Thanh continued to be marked by Ba Dinh, Ngoc Trao, Ham Rong - Nam Ngan...; contributed to the Dien Bien Phu victory "famous in five continents", or the great victory of spring 1975 to make the country sing the song of triumph... It can be said that the spirit of patriotism, indomitability, courage, self-sacrifice for a great cause; the spirit of studiousness, creativity, diligence, respect for sentiment and morality... are inherently good traditions of the Vietnamese nation and Vietnamese people. However, these characteristics - perhaps stemming from many profound reasons mentioned above - have left many outstanding marks on the land and in the character and dignity of the people of Thanh.
Talents have made history famous and become the eternal pride of Thanh Hoa. However, we cannot forget that, to shape the position and stature of this land on the national historical map, there are also the merits and intelligence of millions of people who have lived, worked and contributed to the development of their homeland and country every day. There is an opinion that, with the historical and cultural tradition of the land that gave birth to many heroes who opened the land and defended the country, it has created an ideological environment, a cultural space of Thanh Hoa that always circulates and urges the aspiration to reach a position of "influence" of generations of Thanh Hoa people. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hai Ke, "Thanh Hoa people or Thanh Hoa factors are very special, leaving indelible marks in the process of national history and culture. This factor has contributed especially to forming Vietnam as it was and is"...
Affirming and honoring the beauty and nobility in the dignity, character and spirit of the Thanh Hoa people throughout history, to continue to cultivate beautiful qualities in the souls and personalities of today's people, and also to spread noble and humane values in life. But at the same time, it is also necessary to objectively recognize the limitations, or to know how to "examine one's own faults" to avoid bad things, to perfect oneself to be worthy of our ancestors. I think that is something that is very necessary to be raised at this time, in order to arouse and promote the revolutionary tradition, the spirit of initiative, creativity, self-reliance and strong aspiration of the Thanh Hoa people, for the prosperous development of the homeland and the country.
