Medical staff in Ho Chi Minh City are working hard to pack medicine and send it to people in flood-affected areas.

From the afternoon of September 13 to September 14, medical staff in Ho Chi Minh City urgently packaged 30,000 "Family Medicine Bags" to continue sending to flood victims in the northern provinces.

Towards the Northern compatriots

At Children's Hospital 2, Ho Chi Minh City, more than 30 medical staff from the following hospitals: Children's Hospital 2, Trung Vuong, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital, Tan Phu and Le Van Viet gathered together, busily packing 1,000 "Family Medicine Bags" to provide relief to the people in the North affected by Typhoon Yagi .

Pharmacist Vo Cong Nhan, Head of Pharmacy Department - Children's Hospital 2, said that at noon on September 14, the medicine bags were transferred to the airport and transported by air to Bac Kan province.

Representatives in Bac Kan will receive and distribute to localities in time for people. These are common medicines, used to treat common diseases after floods, very friendly to people.

Prepare medicine bags at Children's Hospital 2 to promptly deliver to people in flood-affected areas.

“Medicines such as allergy medicine, pain relievers, fever reducers, rehydration medicine, antidiarrheal medicine, skin medicine, skin antiseptics, etc. are stored in waterproof zip bags. The medicine bags will be accompanied by specific instructions for each type of medicine for people to use conveniently and avoid confusion,” said Mr. Nhan.

Doctor Nguyen Truc Phuong, Deputy Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Tan Phu District Hospital, said that in the coming time, the hospital will organize a charity fundraising program and prepare human resources to support when there is a notification of support. The hospital will arrange to receive staff from appropriate specialists to support people in distress.

“The hospital has many staff members from the North. However, they have not had the opportunity to directly support their fellow countrymen at this time. So through this program, they want to contribute a part of their strength to support the people, showing their love for their homeland. Hopefully, these medicines will help people to reduce some of the difficulties caused by natural disasters,” Dr. Truc Phuong shared.

Previously, on the night of September 13, 2,500 bags of medicine from Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, Binh Dan Hospital, Go Vap District Hospital... were taken to the airport to go to the provinces. On September 14, many packages of medicine arrived at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) and are on their way to the people in the North affected by storm No. 3.

49 hospitals ready to send support teams

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, by September 15 at the latest, it will ensure the supply of 30,000 bags of medicine to people in flooded areas. On September 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health also sent a dispatch to the Department of Health of 10 provinces heavily affected by storm No. 3, about being ready to provide medical support.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the city has not yet fully grasped the medicine needs of people in flood-affected areas in the provinces, so it is expected that in the first phase, each province will receive 1,000 medicine bags. If the provincial Department of Health needs to provide more medicine bags than the expected number, the provincial Department of Health is requested to inform the quantity needed for support.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health is ready with human resources to support primary medical examination and treatment in the community and with specialized human resources to support district and provincial hospitals when receiving requests from northern provinces and cities or requests from the Ministry of Health.

Currently, 49 hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City have medical staff ready to support.

In addition to public health units, FPT Long Chau Pharmacy system said it has prepared 10 tons of medicine to support people in taking care of their health and responding to potential diseases during the flood season.
