Currently, many higher education institutions such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University of Industry, University of Transport, Hanoi Open University, some training units of Hanoi National University... have adjusted teaching plans and switched direct learning to online to ensure the safety of students and lecturers. As for new students, some schools let them stay home until the end of this week to ensure safety, or postpone health check-ups and student card making plans. Some schools also temporarily suspend or adjust the time of organizing activities such as opening ceremony, welcoming new students...

Mr. Do Ngoc Anh, Director of the Center for Information and Communication, Hanoi Open University said: "For the opening ceremony scheduled to be held on September 13 at the National Convention Center, we have postponed these activities. In teaching activities, the school has also directed faculties to switch from direct to online so that students, especially new students who have just enrolled, can both take care of flood and inundation prevention and still ensure the training program."

Since the online teaching system has been deployed since the Covid-19 pandemic, online teaching and learning at educational institutions has been going smoothly. At the National Economics University, for old courses of training systems, lecturers teach directly according to the schedule and combine online teaching so that learners in areas affected by floods after the storm and cannot go to school can also participate in online learning.

Along with adjusting study plans and methods, universities are also conducting statistics on students or their families affected by floods to promptly encourage and support them.

Ms. Pham Thanh Huyen, Head of Student Affairs Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology said: “Up to now, about 200 students have filled out information about their affected status and requested assistance with necessities, temporary accommodation or laptops damaged by floods. Initially, the Student Affairs Department has coordinated with the Youth Union to contact the students and some students who do not have a place to stay, temporarily arranged for them in dormitories, lent them laptops, and some donors have also supported laptops or lent them money to buy laptops. We have sent some gifts of necessities to students who really need them.”

Many schools will continue to offer online learning until the end of this week, while others will continue until next week or until further notice. Some universities are also making available dormitory space for off-campus students in high-risk areas to evacuate if needed.
