Bringing knowledge and youth back to the village

Although only carrying out a series of volunteer activities in a short period of time, the green-shirt soldiers have left many memorable marks in their homeland. Among them, the popularization class on artificial intelligence (AI) directly coordinated by the group attracted 45 cadres, union members and young people to participate. The seemingly "high-level" concepts of AI suddenly became familiar and easy to understand through the creative and familiar communication of the young people.

In addition, the volunteer team also provided continuous support at the Vinh Thanh Commune Public Administration Service Center. During the volunteer campaign, they received and guided people through more than 150 applications, helping to shorten the time for processing administrative procedures.

Ms. Van Nguyen Viet Mai, Secretary of Vinh Thanh Commune Youth Union, expressed: “The Green Summer Campaign of the Bac Lieu Student Union at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy has left more profound impressions than previous years. The students not only provided technical and IT support, but also spread the spirit of responsibility, enthusiasm and creativity in every activity.”

An equally meaningful activity was the establishment of a Youth Team to mobilize people and business households to change and adjust their signs to suit the administrative boundaries after the merger. Not only did they propagate, they also directly measured, designed and supported the free re-installation of signs for many households, thereby contributing to building a more spacious and uniform appearance of the commune.

In particular, the formation of 4 Zalo community groups with more than 250 members has created a platform for quick connection between the commune government and the people. This is a new, flexible and effective way of propaganda and management in the locality after the merger.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Phuc, Director of Hong Phat Agricultural Service Cooperative, shared: "Thanks to the support of the students, the cooperative has changed all the signs to comply with the new regulations. They also guided us on how to join the Zalo community group so that we can update information about our commune quickly, without delays like before."

Spread love through practical actions

Not only bringing knowledge and technology, student volunteers also contribute to beautifying the school space. The old walls of the schools: Hung Phu Kindergarten, Hung Phu A Primary School and Hung Phu Secondary School were replaced by nearly 20 meters of vivid, brightly colored propaganda paintings with practical content such as: environmental protection, accident and injury prevention, traffic safety ... Each stroke is the heart of the young people for the generation of students in the countryside, so that when they go to school, they not only learn but also are inspired by a loving learning space.

In particular, the Green Summer volunteers also organized many gratitude activities and took care of social security. From small but warm gifts sent to 30 policy families, people with revolutionary contributions, lonely elderly people, organizing a charity meal at the home of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Muoi, to activities of medical examination and medicine distribution, free haircuts for people in difficult circumstances... all exuded sincerity and deep gratitude.

Vo Thi My Lien, a fourth-year medical student, was moved: “This is the fourth time I have participated in the Green Summer Campaign, but the first time I have returned to my hometown. I am so emotional! Through this series of volunteer activities, I hope to contribute a little to help my hometown develop further.”

Closing the green summer, the luggage that the volunteers brought back was not only valuable experiences but also maturity in awareness, affection and responsibility for their homeland. Staying in Vinh Thanh are Zalo groups that are still active every day, beautiful new signs, colorful walls, and above all, the people's trust in today's young generation - those who do not forget their roots, always ready to contribute to building their homeland better and better.
