On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025), on the morning of October 2, at Hoa Lo Prison relic site (Hoa Lo street, Cua Nam ward, Hanoi), the Hoa Lo Prison relic site management board organized a special exhibition "Forever the triumphant song".
The images, documents and artifacts of the exhibition are divided into three contents: "Persistence and perseverance"; "Hanoi - the day of victory"; "The fragrance and colors of Hanoi".
In the content "Perseverance", the Organizing Committee introduced images and documents reflecting the time in December 1946, responding to President Ho Chi Minh 's Call for National Resistance, the army and people of Hanoi bravely fought, opening the long and arduous resistance war against French colonialism.
With rudimentary weapons, Hanoians steadfastly defended every house and street corner, trapping the enemy in the heart of the city for 60 days and nights. The suicide soldiers of the Capital Regiment were ready to hug three-pronged bombs and rush into enemy tanks. Countless young men and teenagers heroically fell, keeping their oath of “Die for the survival of the Fatherland”; many comrades fell into the enemy’s hands. In prison, the soldiers still fought steadfastly to return to the revolution and the people.
The second content “Hanoi - the day of victory”, reflects on the developments after the Dien Bien Phu Victory in May 1954, the Geneva Agreement was signed, Hanoi was in the 80-day assembly area of the French army. Taking advantage of this period, the enemy tried every way to sabotage economic and cultural facilities, lure people to migrate to the South, delay the return of prisoners of war...
Determined to protect the capital intact, the takeover was carried out cautiously. The cadres, soldiers and people maintained their revolutionary spirit and were vigilant against all the enemy's tricks of seduction.
On October 10, 1954, the victorious army marched into the city amidst the jubilant welcome of the people. The streets were lined with flags and flowers, filled with songs, and people were filled with emotion.
The third content “The Fragrance of Hanoi” brings the image of the capital Hanoi as a place where the long-standing historical and cultural values of the nation converge and crystallize. The beauty of the city is the intersection between the ancient and the modern, between traditional cultural identity and dynamic life. Each craft village contributes to recalling a dear and profound Hanoi.
Continuing the heroic tradition, Hanoians today join hands to preserve and promote good values, contributing to writing and embellishing the golden history of the "Heroic Capital", "City for Peace".
There is also the scene “Forever the Triumphant Song”, vividly recreating the jubilant and bustling atmosphere when the people of the Capital eagerly welcomed the victorious army returning on the day of the Capital’s liberation. In particular, the program has the presence of historical witnesses and representatives of the families of the comrades who directly participated in taking over the Capital.
The thematic exhibition “Forever the Triumphant Song” is a profound tribute to the sons who fell for the Fatherland and the beloved Capital. Over the past seven decades since the liberation, Hanoi has continuously grown stronger, preserving precious traditional values, spreading the message of peace and friendship, continuing to write the golden pages of history of the “Heroic Capital”, “City for Peace”. The exhibition runs from now until November 6.
