The 10th grade entrance exam results in Hanoi in 2025 are expected to be announced on July 4. However, these past few days, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang (Thanh Xuan) has been unable to concentrate on her work. The closer the results announcement date gets, the more worried and sometimes uneasy she feels.

As the exam results announcement time approached, every few hours, she would go to groups to see if the results had been released, then access the exam results lookup page even though she knew it was not yet time to announce.

“My child's friends have 1-2 options, but he doesn't have a 'safe harbor' yet, so both mother and child are anxious,” she said.

Her son is good at Math and English, but is weak in Literature. Ms. Hang feels somewhat lucky that this year there is no multiplier for all subjects, so the Literature score is also calculated with a coefficient of 1 like the other two subjects.

"Hopefully the strong subjects will 'pull' the total score up and my child will be admitted to the school of his choice, Tran Hung Dao High School - Thanh Xuan," said Ms. Hang.

Not only Ms. Hang, although she had prepared herself mentally, but the closer it got to “G-hour”, Ms. Hoang Minh Ha (Thanh Tri) felt like her heart was on fire. She said that these past few days she could not work with peace of mind because she just sat and waited for her child’s score.

“I feel more nervous than when I take the exam, and even my child is not as nervous as I am. For the past 2-3 days, I have been constantly checking the internet for the results announcement time. Sometimes when I see a parent sharing a link to check, I am startled and quickly go in to check, but it is not yet time to check,” she said.

Ms. Ha also saved the lookup link on her phone and computer, just waiting for the time to press the button. Even on the family's Zalo group, grandparents regularly update and share information related to the exam and look forward to their grandchildren's scores.

“These days, the family has stopped all entertainment and travel activities, 'holding their breath' waiting for the scores with the students. Family meals are only spent discussing exams and predicting the benchmark scores of the schools.

Parents were worried but still had to encourage their child: "You have tried your best anyway. I just hope everything goes smoothly and most importantly, your spirit will not be affected if the results are not as expected," Ms. Ha said.

As for Mr. Hoang Xuan Vinh (Cau Giay), the days waiting for his child's 10th grade exam results were the "most emotional time ever".

“In recent days, the class’s parents have been discussing whether the exam results might be announced earlier than expected. However, after much information on the media, everyone encouraged each other to continue waiting until the end of July 4th to see what happens,” Vinh shared.

Anxiety and worry were not only the feelings of Mr. Vinh but also of most of the parents in the class. Many students had taken entrance exams to specialized schools such as Pedagogy, Natural Sciences , Foreign Languages, etc. but had not passed, all expectations were focused on the exam results of the city’s public high schools.

According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, this year’s 10th grade entrance exam had about 103,000 candidates competing for about 78,400 places. Although this ratio is “less stressful” than previous years, the competitive pressure still makes candidates and their parents nervous.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that this year, the exam scores and benchmark scores will be announced simultaneously instead of 1-2 days later like in previous years. This is agreed by parents, because this will help students to be less "impatient" and worried twice in a row like every year.

Assessing the benchmark scores for grade 10 in Hanoi this year, many teachers predict that they may increase because the Math test is “easy” and the Literature test does not challenge candidates. The scores for schools with high competition rates at the top of the city such as Yen Hoa High School and Kim Lien High School can be up to more than 25 points.
