Regarding the incident of plaster falling from the ceiling of a classroom at Nguyen Trung Truc Secondary School during class, causing panic among students, on March 3, according to information from the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City ( Kien Giang ), there was a report on the current status of the project and a solution.
Nguyen Trung Truc Secondary School was built and put into use from the 2021 - 2022 school year.
Earlier, at around 9:25 a.m. on February 25, during music class, students of class 8/4 of Nguyen Trung Truc Secondary School were startled when a piece of plaster from the ceiling in the music classroom fell down. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Immediately after the incident, school leaders reported it to relevant units for handling; at the same time, they directed music teachers to transfer students to other classrooms.
Immediately after the incident of ceiling plaster falling during class, workers were mobilized to fix it.
Upon receiving the information, the leaders of Phu Quoc City People's Committee directed the Urban Management Department to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and Nguyen Trung Truc Secondary School to inspect and urgently report to the City People's Committee.
On the afternoon of February 26, relevant agencies came to the school to inspect all ceilings of classrooms, functional rooms, hallways...
Through the survey of the current situation, it is shown that the plaster layers of the ceilings of classrooms and corridors fell off mainly because the plaster layer did not adhere to the bottom surface of the concrete floor (the bottom surface of the concrete floor is very smooth due to the use of film-coated plywood formwork). Another cause is the uneven thermal expansion between the roof concrete and the plaster layer of the ceiling, leading to separation.
Previously, the ceiling plaster of the corridor in building A of the school also fell down.
The fallen ceiling plaster is an external surface finish and does not affect the main load-bearing structure of the building. However, this causes insecurity and psychological impact on teachers and students during the learning and teaching process.
The survey recorded many more locations with the possibility of similar ceiling plaster falling. To ensure the adhesion of the ceiling plaster to the floor concrete, before plastering the ceiling, it is necessary to sand and clean the bottom surface of the concrete floor, which can affect the learning and teaching process.
To fix the problem, relevant agencies have proposed a plan to scrape and scrape off the surrounding plaster layer that lacks adhesion, clean and paint the ceiling to complete all surveyed and recorded locations.
Nguyen Trung Truc Secondary School (Duong Dong Ward, Phu Quoc City) was built and put into use from the 2021-2022 school year with 30 classrooms, 6 subject classrooms, a multi-purpose hall and a number of other functional rooms. According to information from the school, recently, some ceiling plaster in the rooms fell down (multi-purpose hall, hall, corridor). Fortunately, these incidents did not injure anyone.
