Que Son creates livelihoods for rural workers

At Tran Dinh Luan garment factory (Gia Cat village, Que Phong commune), the working atmosphere is bustling with dozens of local workers on the sewing lines.

Ms. Thai Thi Muoi (An Long village, Que Phong commune) shared: “Before getting married, because I didn’t have a stable job, I mainly stayed at home to take care of my children. Since working at Tran Dinh Luan garment factory, my monthly income of more than 5 million VND has significantly improved my life. At first, I was confused, but thanks to the training and enthusiastic guidance from colleagues, I quickly caught up and stabilized my work.”

Mr. Nguyen Van Son - Chairman of Que Phong Commune People's Committee said that recently the locality has promoted the development of industry - handicrafts and trade - services. Currently, in the area, there are many establishments producing garments, processing wood, construction materials, mechanics... creating stable jobs for about 400 workers with a salary of 5 - 7 million VND/month.

Along with industrial development, Que Phong focuses on developing typical products under the “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) program. Currently, the locality has a dried banana product that meets the 3-star OCOP standard and a product that is awaiting recognition.

Thanks to comprehensive efforts in socio -economic development, the economic structure of the commune has changed positively, people's lives have been increasingly improved. Average income per capita reached 51.1 million VND/year, an increase of more than 30 million VND compared to the time when the new rural construction began.

The entire Que Son district currently has 3 industrial clusters operating effectively, attracting dozens of enterprises to invest in production, contributing significantly to solving employment for local workers. Along with that, vocational training is focused on by the district, focusing on short-term training, non -agricultural vocational training in the direction of close to market needs.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Huong (in Dong Phu town) is a worker at Minh Hai Garment Export Company. She shared: “I used to work in Ho Chi Minh City, but after getting married, I decided to return to my hometown to work near home to take care of my children. Working at the company for nearly 15 years, with a stable income of 9-10 million VND/month, I feel secure taking care of my family.”

Mr. Nguyen Duy Thuyet - Director of Minh Hai Garment Export Company said that the unit was established in 2009 with about 100 workers, and has now expanded to more than 300 workers, most of whom are locals.

“Over the years, the company has regularly coordinated with the government in recruitment and vocational training and has a policy of supporting 3 million VND/person for unskilled workers who want to learn a trade. We always strive to improve working conditions and enhance benefits so that workers can feel secure in their long-term commitment,” said Mr. Thuyet.
