According to the Department of Environmental Protection, the waste discharge incident in Ly Hoa village (reported by SGGP newspaper on July 15, 2025) has been resolved. However, residents and tourists continue to report the situation of plastic waste and wastewater causing pollution in Ly Chanh village. Although the peninsula has built a wastewater treatment plant worth 17.4 billion VND, to be completed in 2024, it is still not in operation.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Danh, Vice Chairman of Quy Nhon Dong Ward People's Committee, said that wastewater is mainly from daily activities because people still have the habit of discharging directly into the sea. A wastewater treatment plant has been invested but its capacity is limited and there are problems with handover procedures because the ward has just been established. In the immediate future, the locality has invited Binh Dinh Environment Joint Stock Company to operate the plant for 6 months to evaluate and propose solutions, and will propose that the province add more than 3 billion VND to connect and expand the system, ensuring a clean environment for Nhon Ly tourist beaches.
