On October 31 and November 1, in Salavan town, Salavan province, Lao PDR, the delegation of the Border Guard Command of Quang Tri province (Vietnam) and the Salavan Provincial Police (Laos) held the annual talks in 2024. Major General Si Sot Son Da La, Director of the Salavan Provincial Security Department and Colonel Nguyen Ba Duyet, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard co-chaired the talks.
In the spirit of friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two forces, the two sides expressed their joy and highly appreciated the results of the implementation of the minutes of the 2023 Annual Talks. Notably, they regularly exchanged information and reported on issues related to security and order on both sides of the border, the border gate area between Quang Tri province, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Salavan province, the Lao PDR, focusing on the sabotage activities of hostile forces, exiled reactionary organizations; and subjects taking advantage of ethnic and religious issues to divide the solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

Proactively grasp the situation related to the two sides' borders, actively coordinate to prevent, combat, stop, and effectively suppress all types of crimes; closely coordinate to manage borders and border gates; regularly visit and congratulate each other on holidays, New Year's Day, and traditional days of the two countries.
The two sides agreed to sign the 2024 Annual Talks Minutes, including the following contents: Continuing to closely and in-depth coordinate in grasping, exchanging information, situations and effectively coordinating the fight against all types of crimes, especially drug crimes; smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods; human trafficking; illegal entry and exit; illegal purchase and transportation of weapons, explosives, counterfeit money; illegal exploitation and transportation of mineral resources; activities of exiled reactionaries, reactionaries taking advantage of ethnicity and religion, terrorist crimes, transnational crimes, high-tech crimes and other types of law-breaking crimes related to the two sides of the border; the situation of illegal migration and illegal marriage.
At the same time, continue to closely coordinate in managing and controlling the entry and exit of people, vehicles and goods through border gates, creating favorable conditions for border residents' entry and exit activities; promptly detect and handle in accordance with legal regulations violations of the Vietnam - Laos Land Border Regulations and Border Gate Agreement signed in 2016. Directing to strengthen control at border gates and key areas, promptly preventing, arresting and handling criminal activities and law violations.
Strengthening legal propaganda, mobilizing people on both sides of the border to clearly understand and strictly comply with the Agreement on border regulations and land border gates between Vietnam and Laos signed in 2016, closely cooperating in training and educating human resources to meet task requirements in the new situation.
