As the pillar of the economy , Lam Dong's agricultural sector is shifting in depth, applying high technology (CNC), smart, safe and ecological. Accordingly, circular agricultural production has become the choice and inevitable trend of localities in the province.

Currently, the total area of all kinds of crops in Lam Dong province is estimated at 1,046,000 hectares. Of which, there are over 106,000 hectares of CNC agricultural production and 170,000 hectares of safe production. It is easy to see that the area applying CNC agriculture currently accounts for only about 1/10 of the total crop area, while safe agricultural production accounts for more than 1/6. Most of the remaining area is still being produced by traditional methods or has not applied standards on technology and food safety.

From that reality, in recent years, in Lam Dong, circular agriculture is becoming a strategic direction to realize a green, sustainable economic model. With the advantage of temperate climate and fertile land, production areas have strongly developed CNC agricultural cultivation models combined with circular thinking.

Specifically, models such as using biogas as fuel from waste and wastewater in livestock farming; models combining crop - livestock - aquaculture; models combining agriculture - forestry... have been effective in many households. In addition, there are also garden - forest models, using by-products as fertilizer, reducing chemicals, limiting the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, contributing to changing people's production thinking.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ha - Ta Mung hamlet, Truong Xuan commune said: "From agricultural by-products, I was instructed by the staff of Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center on how to compost them to turn them into organic microbial fertilizers, supplying them back to the soil. Test results show that applying organic fertilizers from by-products helps improve the fertility and richness of the soil, increasing the rate of nutrient absorption for plants by more than 10%".

With key crops such as coffee, pepper, fruit trees, every year, a large amount of by-product waste is created. This is an important resource for producing high-quality organic fertilizer, supplementing nutrients for plants, improving soil but the cost is only about 30% of the market price. This is an opportunity for people to develop circular agriculture, increase the value of agricultural products, increase income, ensure public health and be friendly to the ecological environment - in line with the development orientation of the province.

In recent years, Lam Dong has implemented many projects, programs and scientific topics in the field of agricultural production. In particular, the organic production model of coffee, pepper, durian... with traceability in the communes of Di Linh, Nam Ban Lam Ha, Nam Nung, Duc Lap... has brought positive results.

According to Mr. Dao Huu Hien - Deputy Director of the Central Highlands Agricultural and Forestry Science and Technology Institute, from the actual implementation of the model, strengthening training, communication, and raising awareness for farmers in production is a key factor. "Thereby, helping farmers and agricultural enterprises to change their thinking from "agricultural production" to "agricultural economics" according to the value chain. From participating in building "agricultural supply chains" to developing "industry value chains", towards building an effective, sustainable and responsible agriculture", Mr. Dao Huu Hien added.

According to Mr. Ton Thien San - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, the province will continue to restructure the agricultural sector in association with renewing the growth model. The goal is to develop an agricultural economy that is highly efficient, ecological, organic, large-scale and has high added value.

Regional planning and linkage after the merger is both an opportunity and a challenge. Therefore, the province has promptly issued policies and programs to ensure even development, avoiding the situation where regions are left behind. Therefore, in the coming years, Lam Dong province expects to become the core of regional development linkage, creating a circular and sustainable value chain, thereby realizing the green growth model into production practices in the regions of the province.

Lam Dong will promote the development of logistics, warehouse infrastructure and services in key agricultural areas, associated with multimodal transport and e-commerce, to form a chain linking production and consumption of safe agricultural products.
