At 7:00 a.m. on June 30, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (Department of Hydro-Meteorology) issued an urgent warning about the risk of flash floods, landslides and subsidence in some localities in the northern mountainous region, especially Lai Chau, Ha Giang and Thai Nguyen. According to the center, many places have recorded continuous heavy rain. The large amount of accumulated rain has caused soil moisture in many areas to near or reach saturation (conditions that are very likely to cause flash floods and landslides).
The meteorological agency warned that on the morning of June 30, heavy rains may continue with an amount of 20-50mm, some places may exceed 90mm. The locations identified as being at very high risk include Thai Nguyen city and Dai Tu, Dong Hy, Phu Binh, Vo Nhai districts... of Thai Nguyen province. Localities should check vulnerable areas, and people in mountainous areas and along streams should proactively evacuate if unusual signs such as rapid water rise, cracked house foundations or landslides appear.
