The Central Highlands General Hospital confirmed that the information about a patient having his kidney removed is completely false.

On August 19, Dr. Trinh Hong Nhut, Deputy Director of the Central Highlands General Hospital, said he had asked the police to intervene in handling false information posted on social media about a patient who had a kidney removed at this hospital.

False information posted on social media

Previously, on Facebook, information appeared that Mr. YNM (34 years old, Hoa Dong commune, Krong Pak district, Dak Lak province) had his kidney stolen at the Central Highlands General Hospital.

According to Dr. Trinh Hong Nhut, the patient in question is Mr. YNM (in Ea Kenh commune, Krong Pak district, Dak Lak province), not residing in Hoa Dong commune, Krong Pak district as reported on social networks. Mr. YNM had a fever at home for 4 days, felt very tired, and was taken to Krong Pak District Medical Center for treatment for 1 day. After that, the disease progressed seriously, so the patient was transferred to the Central Highlands General Hospital at 9:23 p.m. on August 9, with a diagnosis of dengue fever.

After 5 days of medical treatment at the Infectious Diseases Department, the patient's health did not improve, with a continuous high fever, fatigue, and impaired consciousness. The patient was diagnosed with septic shock/meningitis/dengue fever on day 10, with complications of multiple organ failure, so he was transferred to the Intensive Care and Poison Control Department for continued treatment.

After 34 hours of intensive medical resuscitation and continuous blood filtration, the patient's condition did not improve, worsened, and he was in a deep coma, with no improvement in respiratory failure and low blood pressure. Therefore, the hospital explained to the patient's family that the patient's condition was serious and at risk of death. At the same time, the doctor repeatedly encouraged the family to let the patient stay for further treatment, but the family firmly wrote a commitment to return home.

At this time, the patient was diagnosed with septic shock complicated by multiple organ failure (kidney failure, blood clotting disorder, metabolic acidosis, etc.).

"The hospital also does not operate on the patient, except to insert a needle into the femoral vein to take blood for dialysis," Dr. Nhat affirmed.

The case is currently being investigated by the authorities.
