Revealing the reason why Man Utd recruited Benjamin Sesko

(Dan Tri) - Of the three expensive contracts that Man Utd acquired this summer, striker Benjamin Sesko is the contract that makes the Old Trafford team feel most satisfied.

"Benjamin possesses a rare combination of blistering pace and the ability to physically overwhelm defenders, making him one of the best young talents in world football," said Jason Wilcox, Man Utd's director of football, after the Red Devils unveiled Slovenian Benjamin Sesko ahead of the Premier League's return next week.

Benjamin Sesko joined Man Utd from RB Leipzig for 85 million euros on a 5-year contract. Sesko's arrival is expected to bring a breath of fresh air to the "Red Devils" attack as the 22-year-old striker is considered one of the most promising young strikers in Europe.

Since joining Leipzig from Salzburg in 2023, he has scored 39 goals and provided eight assists in 87 appearances. Last season alone, Sesko scored 21 goals in all competitions for the German club.

"We have closely monitored Benjamin's career. All our data analysis and research has concluded that he has the qualities and character needed to thrive at Man Utd.

Working under the guidance of coach Ruben Amorim and our fantastic performance team, Benjamin is joining the perfect environment to support him in achieving his world-class potential,” said former England football coach Jason Wilcox.

Also according to Jason Wilcox, Man Utd's transfer strategy this summer is to only recruit players who want to join the club. That has been effective when Man Utd successively signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and this time they beat Newcastle to Benjamin Sesko.

"All of our new recruits are keen to join the club this summer, highlighting the appeal and standing of Manchester United, as we continue to build and develop a team capable of competing for the biggest trophies," said Jason Wilcox.

Meanwhile, speaking at the club's launch, Benjamin Sesko also emphasized: "Man Utd's history is special, but what excites me most is the future with the club. When I heard about the team's plans, I saw this as the ideal place for me to develop and aim for big titles.

As soon as I arrived here, I felt the positive energy and family atmosphere. This is the environment for me to reach the peak of my career.”

Notably, the opening match of this season's Premier League will be a big challenge for Benjamin Sesko as well as for Man Utd when they face Arsenal on August 17 - the team that just won the Emirates Cup after defeating Athletic Bilbao early this morning (August 10).
