The great Laos-Vietnam friendship in the flow of history

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), Mr. Khamphan Pheuyavong - Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party - published an article in the Pasaxon daily on September 1, affirming his pride and firm belief in Vietnam's development path as well as the great friendship between the two peoples.

In the article, Mr. Khamphan Pheuyavong reviewed the historical milestone of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It was not only a great turning point for the Vietnamese people, but also a great source of encouragement for the national liberation movement in many countries, including Laos.

Over the past 80 years, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the Vietnamese people have achieved great and comprehensive achievements, creating a stable socio-political foundation, rapid economic growth, constantly improving people's lives, and an increasingly solid international position.

Notably, the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress brought Vietnam to a GDP growth rate of 7.09% in 2024, an economic scale of more than 476 billion USD, controlling inflation below 4%, and attracting nearly 40 billion USD of FDI capital.

In the first six months of this year, Vietnam's economy grew by 7.52%, the highest in the past 15 years. Exports, investment and the happiness index all recorded impressive results.

According to Mr. Khamphan Pheuyavong, those achievements are not only the pride of the Vietnamese people, but also a source of inspiration for developing countries, including Laos.

In particular, the Laos-Vietnam relationship is increasingly strong and closely connected as advised by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and beloved President Souphanouvong.

The political relations between the two countries are always trustworthy, economic cooperation is continuously expanding, Vietnam is one of the largest investors in Laos with a total capital of more than 5.8 billion USD.

Bilateral trade turnover has grown steadily, and the fields of education, training and propaganda have been closely coordinated, contributing to nurturing the young generation of Laos and Vietnam to become successors, protecting and developing the special relationship that is rare in international relations.

On this important occasion, Mr. Khamphan Pheuyavong expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for always standing side by side and helping Laos in the past cause of national liberation as well as in the current cause of national construction and development.

He affirmed that the Central Propaganda Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party will continue to closely coordinate with the Central Propaganda and Education Department of the Communist Party of Vietnam in propaganda and education work so that young generations can understand, appreciate and promote the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.

Concluding the article, Mr. Khamphan Pheuyavong sent his congratulations to the Party, State and people of Vietnam, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary To Lam, to continue to reap even greater victories, successfully realizing the goal of building a rich, strong, democratic, equitable and civilized Vietnam./.
