Korean Volunteers in Vietnam: Towards a Community of Unity and Sharing

From February 17-21, two volunteer groups of the Red Cross of Daejeon - Sejong province and Seoul city (Korea) carried out many activities in Can Gio district ( Ho Chi Minh City) and Gia Vien district (Ninh Binh). This is an opportunity for the parties to strengthen cooperation, exchange experiences and join hands to enhance humanitarian missions, towards a united and sharing community.

Seoul Red Cross volunteers and Vietnamese volunteers planted 400 mangrove trees in Tam Thon Hiep commune.

Volunteer Gwon Hanbyeol from Seoul shared: “I am very happy to interact with Vietnamese students. They are very friendly and lovely. I hope there will be more exchange activities so that the friendship between Vietnam and Korea will be closer.”

Participating in the Vietnamese volunteer group, Nguyen Ngoc Minh Thu, a student of class 10A10 at Dao Son Tay High School, said: “This is the first time I have participated in planting forests with Korean friends. I feel very happy and this is a very meaningful activity that helps me understand more about the importance of environmental protection.”

Within the framework of the activity, representatives of the Red Cross Volunteer Group of Seoul City (Korea) presented a sponsorship board for the conservation and restoration of mangrove forests in Can Gio district worth over 96 million VND.

In Gia Vien district, the volunteer group of the Red Cross Society of Daejeon Sejong province, Korea, in coordination with the Red Cross Society of Ninh Binh province organized an exchange and experience sharing program at schools in the area.

The program includes many meaningful activities such as cultural exchange, performing arts, decorating school walls, collecting garbage, planting trees, organizing soft skills classes on personal hygiene, health care, first aid, and Vietnamese-Korean folk games.

The volunteer group also presented 160 gifts, 05 computers, 01 printer, 01 bookshelf, 100 books, and many other essential items to Gia Thinh B Primary School and Gia Thinh B Kindergarten (Gia Vien district).

The program not only helps to share human values, experiences and humanitarian models between the Daejeon Sejong Red Cross Society (Korea) and the Ninh Binh Red Cross Society, but also promotes community connection in environmental protection and climate change response.

The activities not only provide valuable lessons on health care for students, but also help young people understand and practice sustainable living values, but also help students learn more about the culture and traditions of the two countries, contributing to promoting prosperous, peaceful and sustainable development between the two peoples, strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Korea.
